PlayerAuctions Open Beta Begins

With great excitement we welcome the MMOG player community to open beta of the new PlayerAuctions. It has been a real pleasure to see the communities’ interest in the big things our team has been hard at work developing. Today we mark a new, more secure era in player-to-player trade, and the beginning of a better future for all MMOG players.

Open beta will only last for a short while. We’ll be using this period to receive further feedback from the community and polish up our new website. Additionally, over the coming days we’ll be publishing the remainder of our key policies, agreements, and guidelines to help players fully enjoy the protections we offer. Please don’t mind the dust during this period, and take note that all transactions are real, and are protected by PlayerGuardian.

So… What’s New?

We have added key new features and upgrades to our player-to-player marketplace.

  • PlayerGuardian – will keep you, your payments, and your trades protected. Buyers will enjoy guaranteed delivery or their money back. Sellers will revel in unparalleled protection from payment fraud.
  • Going global – enhanced support for international player-to-player trade lets you connect to more trading partners than ever!
  • Greater bargains – Shop securely and discover great loot at great prices!
  • Easier currency exchange – trade your game currency with greater convenience.
  • Expanded communication methods – contact your trading partners more easily than ever before.
  • Convenient delivery coordination – easily setup delivery times and locations for your player-to-player trades!
  • All-day support – our Customer Service team is now available 24/7!
  • Updated design – Wow, colors!
Before You Get Started

Please take note of the following information to make the best of your beta program experience.
  1. Accounts from the old PlayerAuctions have been successfully transitioned to our new website. Users who have previously registered may sign in using the same username and password as before.
  2. To further strengthen the unparalleled security on the new PlayerAuctions, any individual user may only have 1 account. Two or more accounts from a single user will result in a permanent suspension from our website. For this reason, please take care not to register multiple accounts.
  3. All offers you create are real offers, involving real transactions, and real money. As such, please maintain accuracy in all your offers during and after the open beta program period.
  4. For more details about our policies, or any inquiries relating to our website, please do not hesitate to contact us for help.

As a final note, throughout our journey at PlayerAuctions we’ll be using this blog to communicate with our members, as well as the overall MMO community for topics we believe are important to you and our digital worlds. Be sure to check back often!

Well, now what are you waiting for? Start securely trading!

WHY CANT YOU SEARCH ALL SERVERS FOR CHARACTERS ON THE NEW SITE, NOW YOU HAVE TO SEARCH EACH INDIVIDUAL SERVER FOR SOMEONE SELLING AN ACCOUNT, SAME WITH SOMONE WANTING TO BUY, ALSO WHY IS THE ACCOUT SELLING FUNCTION WORKING, NOW YOU HAVE TO PUT IT UNDER ITEM OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT TO PUT UP AN ACCOUNT.

For security reasons the new website does not yet support account trade. We know that this service is very important to our members and are doing all we can to add it quickly.

Please check back soon.

It would be nice if you guys could find a way to allow us to add feedback on the auctions purchased on Old Player Auctions that we were not able to leave because it was disabled until this site was up.

I don't know about everyone else but I think I may be done with PA all together... I just can't understand why a known site would switch the site entirely and then on top of that not even have it function correctly when it is available to the public... I mean, lets put on our thinking caps and consider what may happen when the site goes live and it doesn't even have a buy/sell function for over a week+; Customer LOSS!

Brad

I don't know what your talking about, I love the new site and it works great for me! It took me a little time to figure out how to browse the categories but now that I have got it down, its really easy.

You say the site doesn't function? I think your on crack, this site is already 100 times better than the old Player Auctions, I haven't seen anything that doesn't work yet, unlike the old site!

Hmmm, Maybe something is wrong for me? everytime I try to look at any accounts for sale it tells me it isn't supporting that function yet. Please, enlighten me on how to browse for accounts being sold Smile

Viva PA!!!

oh, you mean for accounts, well they stated that they wouldn't be supporting accounts with the first beta, so I am guessing we will see them soon.

As mentioned above, we're working to add support for secure account trade as soon as possible. Please check back soon.

In regard to how the category browsing function works. We've received a few comments from the community on this. Our system actually allows you to search across all the servers for a game, but it seems we didn't make this clear enough.

We'll be releasing another update to our website in a few days and you'll find the new functionality then.

As for posting feedback for auctions on the old website. Sorry, but due to technical reasons that won't be possible.

The new site doesn't function correctly. In the past, if you used "buy now" you received an e-mail almost instantly. Further, you could make a payment instantly with verified Paypal. With the new site, I used 'buy now' and no e-mails were sent: not to me or to the seller. Also, the auction didn't close.

May 22. 2008 03:39

Another point on my post above. Now that payment goes to PA instead of directly to the Seller, it takes much longer. I've spoken to Paypal and they indicate that you're not 'capturing' autorized payments correctly, which may be the reason for the delay.

I think forced escrow is really bad idea.I mean I like new design, and new security but you turned into an escrow service, and on topof that you are forcing users to use it.You are also forcing users to use paypal.A lot of users had problems with paypal and are not using it anymore. What about moneybookers ? Or sending a check ? You are forcing paypal, you are forcing escrow, and that's bad.And on top of that this is not even an auction site anymore,so your name is not even valid anymore. There is just buy it now offers on the site,I dont see any auctions.I think you may rethink some changes, new design, better functionality and better security ( verifiing users ) are good things, but forcing escrow and paypal and actually scraping auction format is bad.

Your escrow computer system stinks. I finally found out why my transaction isn't going through. Your computer automatically flags anyone (*** edited by admin ***). Hell, that's me almost every month. But instead of being considered a good customer, your computer flags me as 'not to be trusted' to quote your online-chat representative. So you have a hold on my purchase, which is pissing off both me and the seller. What a ridiculous way to treat your customers.

namaxy

May 22. 2008 22:06

Yeah nobody likes this forced escrow this need to be dropped.Let the people send and receive the money the way the want - paypal or no paypal or some othert system like moneybookers alertpay etc...dont force payment options like this. This is not good idea.If people want to use escrow there is www.escrow.com But nobody use it anyhow so what made you think people want to use your escrow

Namaxy:

Sorry for the late response; as you may know, we are all working tirelessly here at PlayerAuctions and sometimes this prevents me from replying as soon as I would have liked. I appreciate your extended patience.

Thank you for your valued participation in our Open Beta. We are using this period to receive further feedback from members in the community like you and polish up our new website. I've personally looked into the orders you've recently placed, and would like to personally apologize for the problems you encountered.

Allow me to address your concerns-

Email notifications:
Please note that we're still finalizing some of the notifications that are sent to members at a number of stages throughout the transaction process. Rest assured that this is a known issue and is very near the top of our priorities to promptly address.

Offer Closure:
Offers are automatically closed when completely purchased by successfully verified payments. As your payment took longer to successfully verify than is normal, it may have appeared unusual to you.

Your chat with our Customer Support:
I do understand your frustration, and mistakes were made in the handling of your most recent order. While each transaction placed on our new website is properly reviewed, it most certainly is not correct that we consider you “not trusted”.

The condition that our Customer Service Officer mentioned to you is merely one of hundreds of conditions used to verify a member's payment. However, by informing you one of the hundreds of our security conditions, our Customer Service Officer had violated one of our internal policies. Keeping this information viewable to the public, or more importantly, to fraudsters, puts our members at risk.

With this blog we want to have an open, raw discussion with our community. Therefore we generally would never moderate constructive, on-topic comments such as yours. However in this exceptional case, given the security concerns created by the situation, I have edited out the condition in your post with “***” as I believe it is in our members’ best interests. Thank you for your kind consideration, the remainders of your responses have been left unedited.

As I write this reply to you our developers are releasing the fix to the PayPal payment issue you encountered. Please understand that this unfortunate situation and experience was absolutely not intentional; I can clearly see you have been using PlayerAuctions for over 2 years with many orders, and you should have had a much better experience.

I hope you would accept our apology.

Best regards,

Josiah

Just out of curiosity, when the ability to purchase a character open up how can a buyer be protected from someone recalling their account later? Or even worse having one of their friends petition a GM and say the account was hacked and have it closed and reopened by the original owner. This can even happen if an new clean account has been opened up for the character sale and transfer to the new account..

I wish it was easy to buy a safe account. I'd be a much happier man for sure!!! It just seems like blizzard's TOS and their negative approach to allowing accounts to be shared or passed on is going to thwart your efforts. Can an account be truely safe from recall?

In my opinion it can only happen when Blizzard gives in and allows transferring of accounts. When hell blizzards over!

IMO, this site is spiraling downward... I've heard nothing but negitive comments about this site in-game and on other sites. This site used to be the best buy/sell site out there and now it is honestly nothing; I believe the creators have become money hungry and are slowly dimenishing all relations with customers... total let down PA.

By far this is the worst thing that could happen to this site. The forced escrow will be the end of it not to mention the forced paypal. Old site was easier to navigate easier to search just all around better for being YEARS old this is FAR from a improvement I think you actually took a few steps back. I used to come here all the time but now I think im done as well just a awful looking site period.

I have to agree with a lot of the other comments being made here. Playerauctions used to be a site that was quick and easy. I've completed over 40 transactions on the old site and never had a problem with any of them. This new system, though.....what a joke. I sold an account and can't believe the process that buyers and sellers have to endure now. Every time I think, "Ok, great, now everything should be good to go." I find out there is more waiting involved. I'm sorry that PlayerAuctions staff feel they are working tirelessly to get the new site up and running, but hey, you guys brought this one on yourselves. I'm a big supporter of the old saying, "If it isn't broke, don't fix it." The new escrow service was apparently brought in to provide additional security and safety to customers, but honestly, it's nothing short of a pain in the butt. PlayerAuctions uses the excuse that this new escrow service is the way to go in providing saftey to it's customers, but I feel like this new service is being crammed down my throat. What a way to destroy a website that I used to enjoy using. This is one customer that won't be returning to this site and hopefully sometime before the end of the summer I will get paid for the account I sold days ago. F- guys, the new site stinks.

Wow, 15% fees to sell accounts. So if you sell a $400 account, PA will keep $60 of that. There are other auction sites available that are much cheaper. I'll believe that this site is more trustworthy than the other, cheaper sites when the CSR learn how to give a straight answer to a simple question.

July 27. 2008 13:53

I was charged about $47 to sell an account for $300. When I was trying to track down my payment I found that the online chat support people apparently are only able to provide links to different parts of the PA website and give vague answers to questions. After being told I was a verified seller and waiting 2 days to be paid, I contacted PA and was told by another CSO that I was a standard seller and would have to wait longer. The same CSO also told me I would have to wait even more time because payments aren't sent out on Sat or Sun. The funny thing was, the CSO didn't even know what day of the week it was, first they tried telling me it was a holiday?, then it was Saturday, when it was actually Friday.
Confusing and time consuming is what the new process is, I doubt I'll be back to use it again.

Never again will I place an order through PA. It used to be that I could really have delivery within 15 minutes for that time sensitive plat need. Now it is 24 hours before the payment is received. I have one pending order that has cleared the bank (45 minutes ago as of the banks online account management) but the payment has not reached PayPal or PA. That was with a VISA card. The checking account transfer is still in limbo. It is worth paying more on other sites (support your Chinese neighbor) than to continue getting a delay. (87 positive buyer feedbacks)
