FFXIV Blue Mage Leveling Guide

FFXIV Blue Mage Guide
By | November 29th, 2020 | Categories: FFXIV

In FFXIV, the Blue Mage class does not have the luxury in which it can take part in daily roulettes in order to receive experience. Thankfully, they have been given a way to earn open-world XP bonuses. To level your Blue Mage up to 60 the fastest way possible, you should follow this FFXIV Blue Mage leveling guide.

Throughout this guide, we will be outlining the following:

  • Pairing up with others
  • Locations for leveling
  • Taking on mobs
  • How long leveling 1-70 will take

If you do wish to take the faster route to getting your Blue Mage to the capped level 70, then this is how you can do so. But first, you are going to need one important factor to help you.

Pairing Up with Others

Before we move onto anything else for the FFXIV Blue Mage leveling guide, this is the most important trait that you must begin with. You are going to need someone else to help you out with your journey. This can be a friend, or someone that is also looking to hit Blue Mage level 70, and alternate leveling with them. To make the most out of the situation, try and also have a level 70 healer class with you, if you have any friends that have reached this level.

If you don’t have anyone to help you out here then unfortunately you are out of luck as far as this method goes. There used to be a way to achieve it by playing solo, in which there was a glitch that you could take down a mob with a level 70 class before switching out to Blue Mage to get the XP. Sadly this was patched and is no longer a viable method.

Another point to take on board is that you and your partner of choosing will not be able to be in a party together. By being in a party together, you will not be able to earn any XP. With that being said, you will need to set up an alternative method of communication for you to use whilst you are leveling up.

Locations for FFXIV Blue Mage Leveling

Now that you are partnered up and ready to go, you need to head to a Heavensward zone that has open-world mobs that are at level 59, and you will need an abundance of them. Two places that are good to try are the Hinterlands near Matoya’s Cave, or the north-western area of Azys Lla.

If you haven’t managed to unlock these areas yet, but still want to level up your Blue Mage, then there is an alternative. You can go to the Sea of Clouds which you should be able to access, though your partner will need a mount capable of transporting two players to take you to the northern area of that particular zone. You could also try the island that was the Void Ark entrance, but you are best off checking out the areas we discussed previously since you can level up quicker there with more mobs inhabiting them. It is also worth mentioning that you are only going to be able to use this method to get you to around level 50 or so if you haven’t managed to unlock the Heavensward locations yet.

Killing Mobs for FFXIV Blue Mage Leveling

Now that you have found your ideal location to level up your Blue Mage, you can move onto the next step. Once again, make sure that you are not in a party with your friend or partner that you are leveling with, as you don’t want to miss out on the all important XP. If possible, find a partner that is able to shield your Blue Mage from being taken out with a single hit. You are going to want to avoid targeting ranged or caster mobs too if you can, and let your partner take the brunt, whilst doing the same for them in the reverse situation, of course.

Once you have gotten to grips with all of that, you can then start tagging the relevant mobs for your partner to unleash their fury upon. You can use spells such as Flying Sardine if needed, but any spell that specializes in single-target offense will do. If you want to make sure that you are getting that coveted XP, then you will need to assure that the Blue Mage is tagging the mobs first. If your higher leveled partner decides to attack first without them being tagged, then the Blue Mage will miss out on any experience from that particular kill.

How Long Will Leveling 1-70 Take?

You have probably found yourself here because you are searching for the fastest possible method in which you can level up to 70 for your Blue Mage. If that is the case, this will take about 2 hours to complete. It is a short amount of time, but around half of it will be you getting to level 60. The other hour or so will be you going from level 60 to 70.

If you have managed to find a level 80 partner, or you are now one yourself, you can help a number of Blue Mages level up to 70 at the same time. If you are looking to do this, then one requirement is that you will need to have them in a party with each other, and they will also need to be within a few levels each other in order for it to work.

Conclusion

By following this FFXIV Blue Mage leveling guide, there isn’t any reason you can’t get your Blue Mage from level 1 to 70 in around two hours. The key is obviously you finding an ideal friend or partner to help you out, but once you have this then it is a rather straightforward way of getting there, and isn’t too time-consuming. What’s more, once you have reached the higher levels that are required, you will be able to help others out with the process, and aid Blue Mages hitting the heights of level 70 themselves.

The only thing I can assume is this guide is working under the assumption you had previously maxed out, and then never touched the class again until well after all that new content came out.

That, or the author isn’t too bright about article writing for guides.
