Genshin Impact Qiqi Build and Lore

Name: Qiqi

Vision: Cryo

Birthday: 3 March

Constellation: Pristina Nola

Titles: Icy Ressurection, Pharmacist of the Bubu Pharmacy, Fortune Preserver

With the arrival of the Ocean-Hued Clam set, Qiqi gets a new lease on un-death in Genshin Impact. Although players do appreciate her ability to heal the party, she is still an underappreciated character. Only a few players would celebrate getting her from wishing.

Her E skill sends out the Herald of Frost, which attacks nearby enemies with Cryo DMG while healing the character being used. If it’s out and Qiqi hits an opponent, she can grant healing to the party by a percentage of her ATK.

Her Burst marks opponents within range with a Fortune-Preserving Talisman. When hitting the marked targets, the active character in the party is healed for a portion of Qiqi’s ATK. It also damages enemies with Cryo DMG in an area around Qiqi.

Like Jean, she’s an ATK healer, meaning making her a DPS and healer is easier. Plus, she’s a Cryo unit, which is one-half of a Superconduct reaction to increase Phys DMG. That is her primary way of attacking.

She has a problem with energy generation since her E only produces particles when it hits a marked enemy. Also, she doesn’t have any other utility ability. She’s either a healer, damager, or both, and that’s it.

Genshin Impact Qiqi Builds

Pure Healer/Support

This focuses on increasing Qiqi’s ATK to increase her healing. Damage is only a secondary priority to this build. Tenacity gives her extra utility, but she has no use for the HP boost unless using the Primordial Jade Cutter.

Possible Sets: Maiden Beloved, a combination of that and Ocean-Hued,  Tenacity of the Millelith, Noblesse Oblige

Main Stats: 3x ATK% or Energy Recharge, ATK%, Healing Bonus

Substats: ATK, Energy Recharge

Pure DPS

With this build, Qiqi’s healing falls off a little bit, but she attacks with more force. Use Superconduct to boost damage even more!

Possible Sets: Pale Flame, a combination of that and Bloodstained Chivalry, Gladiator’s Finale

Main Stats: ATK%, Phys DMG Bonus, Crit Rate/DMG

Substats: Crit DMG/Rate, ATK, Energy Recharge

Use Healing to Attack More

The build brings the best of both worlds with the Ocean-Hued Clam set. It provides some Healing Bonus and a bubble that accumulates up to 30k of overflow healing. When it pops, it releases all of it as damage. If you can consistently reach the maximum amount, that’s 30k per tick of Physical DMG!

Note that you can only stack healing when other characters also wear four pieces of Ocean-Hued Clam. It doesn’t matter if it’s in co-op mode or your own party. The damage from the bubbles also gets affected by Superconduct, so make use of the reaction!

Artifact Set: Ocean-Hued Clam

Main Stats: 3x ATK% or Phys DMG Bonus goblet and Healing Bonus hat

Substats: ATK, Elemental Mastery

Weapons

Qiqi doesn’t exactly have a signature weapon. However, there are a few recommended weapons for her:

  • Aquila Favonia
  • Skyward Sword
  • Summit Shaper
  • Primordial Jade Cutter
  • Sacrificial Sword
  • Prototype Rancour
  • The Flute
  • Favonius Sword

Sacrificial Sword and the Aquila Favonia (for a more DPS-oriented Qiqi) are the best weapons for her. One solves her long cooldowns, and the other is a Physical DMG-boosting sword with a naturally high Base ATK. Unfortunately, the latter is a 5-star weapon you must get lucky for.

Genshin Impact Qiqi Lore (Backstory)

Not much is known about Qiqi before she was trapped in amber. She was an ordinary herb-picker, doing what she usually does in the mountain. Unknowingly, she had crossed the boundaries of adepti land and injured her leg in a fall. Scurrying into a cave for shelter and rest, she got caught in an altercation between adepti and demon.

She got stuck in the middle of life and death in the crossfire. The adepti, knowing she was an innocent, couldn’t bear to let her die, and both combatants poured power into her. Her petite body could not take the outpouring, however well-intentioned the beings were. Mountain Shaper was forced to seal her in amber.

Centuries later, citizens of Liyue found Qiqi’s amber ‘tomb’ and got ready to prepare it for burial in the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. During transport, the stone got knocked about. That, along with the erosion of time’s passage on the seals on Qiqi, she broke them, woke in the middle of the night, and escaped.

Following her old habits of herb-picking, she ran for the hills and met Baizhu. The doctor took her in, despite her forgetfulness and stiff manner. Qiqi accepted, even though he might have ulterior motives for doing so. Even then, his concern is evident, and Qiqi appreciates it, though she may not always remember.

Now, she’s a pharmacist and herb picker for the Bubu Pharmacy. She stretches every evening to avoid being stiff. Also, it prevents her from hopping about like a normal jiangshi (hopping zombie). Due to escaping during transport, Hu Tao, the Director of Wangsheng, keeps trying to find Qiqi to continue the interrupted ritual. The zombie has no intentions of being buried, so Qiqi has hated the Director ever since. Even though Hu Tao has accepted Qiqi’s existence, the zombie doesn’t want to reconcile.

The 77th Director is also why Qiqi prefers exercising at night.

She likes her petite body. It’s perfect for swift movements, though it’s easy to underestimate her. Some enterprising Treasure Hoarders thought she’d be an easy target, but Qiqi proved them wrong. With her stoic face, she unleashes the full power her body holds. That allows her to defeat the thieves with ease. Afterward, she restrains it once more for day-to-day life.

Another thing that sets Qiqi apart from other jiangshi is her master. Regular zombies need a master to give them orders. Otherwise, they won’t take any action by themselves. Because Qiqi woke up with no one to command her, she gained the rare ability to give herself commands. While she can tell herself to do simple things like “do stretches at midnight,” complicated ones with multiple steps tend to get her stuck.

She must do as she commands even when she can’t, creating a loop where she tries and tries to do her task until she succeeds. In such cases, her commands have to be reset by another person. Typically, that’s Baizhu, who hugs her from behind and declares, “I love you the most!” or something similar. However, the doctor never says it with much sincerity, diminishing the effects. It does get the job done, and she gets unstuck from her command loop.

The last unique thing about Qiqi is her notebook. Because she knows she’s forgetful, anything she wants to remember is written on it. Things like calisthenics exercises, herb descriptions, and even some commands for herself. The latter is written precisely to ensure smooth transitions for the next day.

She has accumulated so much information that it’s almost a dummy’s guide on anything. However, if Qiqi forgets to look at it, will she still be herself?
