Ubisoft’s Hyper Scape – the Innovative New Challenger in the Battle Royale Genre
Ubisoft’s Hyper Scape. Do you have any idea what that is? Well, maybe you do, seeing as it’s creating a ton of buzz in the gaming community, but for the sake of this article, let’s say you don’t. Hyper Scape is a battle royale.
But wait! I know. There’s a thousand of ‘em out there, and each one seems exciting until you actually play it and then you get bored of it after a couple hours. But Ubisoft’s Hyper Scape actually has the potential to be a huge hit! Not just because of the graphics, but because of the awesome and innovative new features that it’s bringing to the table that’s leaving all other battle royales scrambling to keep up!
Through this article, I’m going to teach you everything that you need to know about it, including those super cool features that make it stand out from the crowd and how to get early (and free) access.
Why Is Ubisoft’s Hyper Scape Different From Other Battle Royales?
Okay, we all know it. Someone figured out that Battle Royale games sell well, and just like that, they are everywhere. Most of them are junky, clunky, unfun things that will give you entertainment for like an hour before you get bored and you go back to your games of choice. Some are more longlasting, like Fortnite or Apex. But it’s not enough anymore to just have a fun game mode, because hey, there’s so many freaking options out there. Hyper Scape is innovating the game mode itself. How? Here’s how! Do note that there’s a lot of changes, but I’ll be hitting on the big ones.
Guns and abilities are different
Instead of stumbling across a super overpowered gun or getting stuck with a crappy one the whole game, Hyper Scape allows you to combine abilities and guns! Let’s say you find a gun and later you find another version of that gun. Voila, with a flourish, you suddenly have a better gun because the two lower guns combine. Same thing with abilities, like a healing ability, a cover wall, and a ridiculous orb that will let you bounce your way to freedom and safety.
It’s fast and frantic
You’re going to experience a whole mixture of intense fighting and high-action gameplay, but it isn’t based entirely around who can outshoot who. Because of the abilities and the way that the game is setup, you can easily disappear and heal for a second before rejoining the fray. But be careful! By the time you get back, there might be six to nine other players all duking it out by the time you return.
You are crazy mobile
No fall damage, which is a delight, and every rooftop is traversable. You can spring, slide, and jump your way around the map at a nearly ridiculous speed, where half the match is spent quite literally skyward.
You can become a ghost
Well, not really, but when you die, you don’t vanish. You can float around in your ghostly majesty, only visible by your teammates (and you can’t shoot), and scout around to find a respawn point.
Capture the flag!
Fascinatingly, the final circle is actually a capture the flag contest. Yeah. Really.
There are other features, including Twitch integration, but I suspect that this game could get a serious fan base pretty quickly if it can actually provide everything it claims to.
What is the Hyper Scape Release Date?
All this new stuff (plus a few cool other features being introduced) is great! But, here’s your bad news. It isn’t available yet. That being said, there is a beta! PC gets it first on July 12, and for you PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users, it’s coming, but there’s no date yet. Want to join in? Check out the official website to figure out how to claim your spot.
Should I Try Hyper Scape?
Listen. I know. I’m kind of burned out on Battle Royales too. There’s only so much of them that you can actually play until it gets stale and boring. Will this game actually be different? Or will it fall flat? Truth be told, only time will tell, but I have high hopes for Hyper Scape, and I think you should too. Give it a shot! After all, it’s free!
Today, I gave you some of the inside knowledge about Ubisoft’s Hyper Scape. It’s fast. It’s intense. It’s new and innovative. It’s exciting. It’s packed with cool features that we haven’t seen before. It’s strange and fun and I think it might have the legs to be a big hit. Only time will tell, but I’d heartily give it a shot! I know it’s just another Battle Royale, but looking at the innovations that they are providing, I’d say it’s definitely a different kind of animal from your normal Battle Royale.
Until next time, get out there and have some fun!
