Fortnite Battle Royale Tips to Get You Going

Fortnite Battle Royale: with a name like that, you can guess that it’s going to be an awesome game. It’d practically be a crime for it to be dull after getting everyone excited about such a bold name. You would have guessed right if you thought it was fantastic. It’s becoming unbelievably popular for a reason! It’s got everything: action, building, suspense, stealth, and looting. No matter how you like to play, Fortnite’s got you covered. Sniper? No problem. Hole up in a bush somewhere and pick people off from afar. More of an assault player? Grab a tactical shotgun and an assault rifle and go get ‘em! Builder? Just make a giant fort and prepare for the onslaught!

But you didn’t click on this just to hear about the types of play in Fortnite. You clicked on it because of the title. You clicked on it… because you saw Fortnite Battle Royale Tips. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a beginner, not to worry, mysterious stranger! I got you covered! I’ll whisper the tips and secrets of the game to you so that you can see that sweet victory message.

The 100-Person Elimination

First thing’s first. The big part of the game is the famous 100 person elimination round, where you’re basically tossed out of a flying bus over a remote island and fight to the death with the last one standing being the winner. That’s where I’ll start. To sum it up, you need to dive from the ole Battle Bus (which, yes, is a blue school bus that flies over an island) and land on the island somewhere. You’ve got yourself a handy little map so you can see most of the various locations on the map, like Loot Lake and Anarchy Acres to random houses and huts.

Where Do You Go?

Well, that varies, and there are massive guides that include everything that you need to know, from every crate location to all manner of incredibly complicated rules on where to land. You could absolutely try that, but here’s my basic rule: go somewhere where nobody else went. I’ve tried all the guides, and I’ve figured out an important rule: even if you go somewhere very popular and find everything absolutely awesome, you will probably end up dying because everyone and their mother is there as well and the odds are simply against you.

The Golden Rule

The big rule of the game is this: don’t die. Don’t die. That’s it. Be the last one alive, and you win! So, when the whole point is survival, it’s a generally good idea to avoid all the most dangerous places and all the other people, because all it takes to lose is someone to sneak up from behind and hit ya with the ole “shotgun to the chest” trick. Let’s say you jump out of the Battle Bus and you’ve landed somewhere relatively isolated. You go into a house or a barn or a shed or something like that. There are fewer weapons, but not necessarily worse weapons, so if you’re the first one down, you get all the good stuff.

Getting Started

The first thing you need to do is find yourself a weapon, and hopefully a shield. There are a number of things you can pick up and stumble upon, but here’s the basic loot: weapons (assault rifles, revolvers, sniper rifles, semi-autos, and a number of other weapons), bandages, and shields. You can also get some funny knick-knacks, like this one thing that makes you look like a bush that’s delightfully hilarious and useful.

Some of these items you might come across out and about, but many of them will come from chests, which give off a faint hum to help you find them. They tend to be in hard-to-find places in houses, like a closed off second story or something like that, or in a hard to reach tree base. If you hear a chest, whip out your trusty pickaxe and start hacking! If you can’t bash your way into getting near it, use the intuitive building mode to get some stairs up there. It’s worth the effort.

Building

Speaking of building, you need to know how to make forts. If you’re not a person that likes to do it, that’s fine, but it’s an important skill to have in your pocket should the need arise. You gain materials by hitting (and then destroying) things with your pickaxe. You can get iron, wood, and stone. Obviously, iron is the strongest and hardest to get, and wood is the easiest and weakest. The most commonly made structures are complete with walls, ceilings, floors, and stairs.

A little tip that I like to give is that if you make it to the end, make yourself a fort in the increasingly small area of play and get away from it. One of my favorite things to do is to make an enormous fort in the middle of the area so that everyone thinks I’m in there, steadily building away, but I’m actually chilling in a bush a hundred feet away. It’s saved my skin more than a few times when my opponents used rocket launchers and grenades to destroy my empty base and me off should I have been in it. Forts can protect you, but it’s also like waving a big flag and saying “Hey! I’m over here! Come kill me!”

The Storm

Ah, your greatest enemy. The basic premise is that there’s a massive storm heading your way and it kills anyone in it. The obvious solution is to avoid getting caught in it, so everyone in the map rushes to a designated safe area, which shrinks every couple minutes until any survivors are right on top of each other. I don’t have much to say about that, other than you really shouldn’t test it. I’ve been killed by the storm before because I was busy looting and didn’t leave in time. It’s rather frustrating, so save yourself a headache and just leave with enough time to boogie down to the safe location.

Other Way to Die

Finally, aside from the storm, you will run into your other major way to die: other players. If they see you, they’ll try to kill ya. Stick to the shadows. Avoid people unless you want to fight them. Hole up in a hut somewhere with a tactical shotgun if you’re feeling partial. It might have a lot of open spaces, so it’s a good idea to bring a sniper rifle along whenever venturing away from the towns and houses in the event of a battle.

Good News for Items

But wait, you say. This all sounds like quite a bit of trouble, running around trying to find weapons and materials. Not to worry, new friend! My fellas over at PlayerAuctions got you covered. They sell everything you need at affordable prices so that you don’t have to mess with all that grinding. You can get what you need and get right to it with Fortnite Items.

There ya go. I’ve given you everything that I can. I believe in you. Go out there! Get to looting! Get to killing! Get to surviving! Be the best of your friends! Most importantly, get out there and have fun.
