OSRS Song of The Elves: Swansong for an Elven Quest
OSRS Song of the Elves is the culmination of one of the most enduring quests (the Elven one) in the history of Old School Runescape. Sprawling a massive 17 years, it wouldn’t be a stretch (pun intended) to say that the elven quest series has reached cult status and is a much-revered part of the game. Being that it’s set to draw to a close, we deemed it necessary to give it ample coverage. No goodbye would be complete without a proper sendoff, right? Here’s what you should know about the highly-anticipated Song of the Elves.
Great Things Come From Small Beginnings
Song of the Elves traces its roots all the way back to when Jagex augmented their prized MMORPG with the Plague City quest 16 years ago. Little did people know that this addition would cause a lasting ripple in the game’s history as it marked the start of the franchise’s fabled elf quest series. This series takes a rather long and winding journey starting from the Elven Rebellions right down to Dark Lords before finally culminating in its epic conclusion: the Grandmaster quest, Song of the elves.
Being the godfather of all elven quests, Song of the Elves will naturally prove to be a challenging quest to embark upon. In it, you’ll join forces with a slew of characters ranging from all across the series in a bid to end the reigns of the evil Lord Iowerth and King Lathas. Again, don’t dare mistake this for a mere walk in the park as you’ll be greeted by a host of mind-boggling puzzles and macabre foes along the way.
An Enduring Quest and More
To hardcore OSRS fans, Song of the Elves is more than just a mere quest. Filled to the brim with fresh challenges, foes to overcome, and a mystic city, it is the biggest, baddest update in the storied history of Old School RuneScape. Announced way back at RuneFest 2018 and finally released on the 25th of July, 2019, it is a quest whose completion grants access to the majestic city of Prifddinas.
Interestingly enough, this elven city has been in existence since way back in 2004. Now that it’s finally accessible, the OSRS faithful can enter its grandiose imperial gates and take in the wonders of its unique shops. Of course, there’s the Tower of Voices to cap it all off which is located right in the middle of this bustling city. Players can expect explorations galore as all eight of the city’s zones have a corresponding clan—each with a special character.
But Wait… There’s More!
You didn’t think that’s all to it, did you? Additional noteworthy highlights to this OSRS update are PvM and skilling challenges, namely Zalcano and The Gauntlet. The former involves battling the demon of the same name who was trapped by the Elves during the (in)famous God Wars. OSRS fans will, particularly those who have an affinity for mining & smithing will have their work cut out for them. The latter, on the other hand, serves as training grounds for the most promising of elven warriors. You’ll need moxie as you’ll ultimately be squared off against the feral Hunllef.
There are many more surprises that await you in Song of Elves, of course, but we’d rather have you discover them on your own than spoil the fun. Do yourself a favor and indulge in this quest.
You’ll thank us later!
