The Shadows Are Near: WoW Argus Week 1-3
Get the Scoop?
Last week, Blizzard was at the Gamescom expo to make a major announcement regarding the World of Warcraft: Shadows of Argus release date. With the new patch scheduled to drop this week (Tuesday, August 29), you might be wondering about what to expect from the update. Let’s take a look at WoW Argus.
At Gamescom, Blizzard heralded the start of the Battle for Argus by launching a new cinematic to tease the patch’s arrival. In a statement, the company announced that patch 7.3, which kicks off this epic battle, will have gamers going through a series of story chapters across three new regions. New chapters in the story of Argus will be released each week, and as Blizzard puts it, these chapters will “tell the tale of what was, what is, and what could be.”

The World of Warcraft: Shadows of Argus release date, as mentioned above, will take place on August 29, and everything starts off when you join Velen and hop aboard his new ship, the Vindicaar. He’s gathering allies in the run-up to the Battle for Argus, and once you get there, that’s where the story begins. Week 1, according to PCGamer, will mark the beginning of the invasion of Argus, as you team up with the Army of Light and head to the Antoran Wastes to do further battle. Players can also expect access to new World Quests and Emissaries in this pivotal first week of play. The “epic” storyline started in Week 1 kicked off in Krokuun.
By week 2, you can expect to finish that story arc in the expansion. You will then be traveling to the ruins of Mac’Aree by the second week, and as Blizzard has been teasing, you will gain access to Invasion Points and prevent the Burning Legion from taking over other worlds. Mac’Aree also offers other World Quests, on top of the invasion points.
You should be wrapping up the Shadow of Argus storyline, and have all World Quests unlocked. Week 3 will allow players to enter the new dungeon, the Seat of the Triumvirate, and once there, you can start forging Relics once you’ve activated the Netherlight Crucible.
From the release date onwards, you can treat the Vindicaar as your ground zero en route to, and while on Argus. Blizzard says this spaceship will come with various amenities, including but not limited to the following: a mailbox, profession trainers, an innkeeper, vendors, and so on. Then you’ve also got the Matrix Core, which unlocks several Vindicaar powers as you make your way toward Argus.
Looking at the Matrix Core, in particular, some of the powers include the following:
- Light’s Judgment: the Vindicaar’s primary weapon
- Lightforged Warframe: the mechanized armor suit
- Veiled Argunite: a special currency that you can use to buy relinquished items
- The Fel Heart of Argus: allows the game to not only bring you back to life after you’ve gotten killed, but also heal you on a continuous basis as long as you aren’t in combat.
The Army of Light
With this new faction, The Army of Light is a guerrilla force that has been fighting the forces of the Legion from the warship Xenedar for the past several centuries. Likewise, the Argussian Reach also makes their debut in the game and Blizzard says this is a faction of “refugees and outcasts” hoping to reclaim their homeland from evil forces.
Are you as excited as we are for WoW Argus! We hope you are. The features we mentioned above only scratch the surface of what to expect from the new patch.
