Every Announcement From PlayStation’s State Of Play

PlayStation has officially ended their State of Play live stream event. PlayStation’s State of Play live stream is a series of online presentations organized by Sony Interactive Entertainment to present updates, news, and announcements related to the PlayStation Brand. In the event there were plenty of announcements to get gamers hyped for upcoming releases. This year’s State of Play showcased some new PS5 games and even PSVR games. The event was held on September 24 and for those who missed the live stream, here are all the announcements from PlayStation’s State of Play 2024.

Game Announcements

Astro Bot

Astro Bot is a 3D platform game made to be a sequel of the Astro’s Playroom game. It was released on September 6, 2024, for the PlayStation 5. It utilizes the PlayStation’s DualSense controller to give players a fun and interactive experience. It also features easter eggs and cameos of other PlayStation games. For State of Play, Team Asobi, the developers of Astro Bot have announced, alongside a trailer, that they are going to add new speedrun levels and 10 new Special Bots that need to be rescued. These new levels and Special Bots will be coming this Fall.

Ghost of Yōtei

For fans of 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima rejoice, a sequel has been announced. Sucker Punch Productions, the developers of Ghost of Tsushima have announced Ghost of Yōtei and have released trailer to announce the game. The developers wanted to still maintain the pillars of the previous game, which was to explore the Feudal Japan as a wandering warrior. They wanted to create a fresh but familiar game. They looked beyond Jin Sakai’s story in the Island of Tsushima and the story will now focus on Atsu’s journey in lands surrounding Mount Yōtei. Ghost of Yōtei is set to be released next year for the PlayStation 5.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

Horizone Zero Dawn will have a remastered edition being launched on October 31 for the PlayStation 5 and PC. In State of Play, they announced what the changes of the game will be and showcased an announcement trailer to the viewers. Horizone Zero Dawn Remastered will feature 10 hours of re-recorded conversations, mocap animations, and improved graphics. Guerilla Studio, the developers of the game, wanted to aim to have the same visuals as the sequel Horizone Forbidden West, as well as utilize the full power and features of the PlayStation 5.

LEGO Horizon Adventures

LEGO Horizon Adventures was announced by Guerilla Studios alongside a pre-order trailer. The game is basically the Horizon game but turned into LEGO. It’s going to have the same story as the Horizon games, but Aloy will return in this game. Players will join Aloy the machine hunter as she leads her crew of colorful heroes to explore the wilderness and save the world as she learns the secrets of her past. The pre-order for LEGO Horizone Adventures will be starting on October 3 and the game will launch on November 14. The game will be available for PlayStation, PC, and Nintendo.

Alan Wake 2: The Lake House

Remedy Entertainment released a trailer for the final DLC for Alan Wake 2. The game is a survival horror game where it follows the protagonist Alan Wake where he tries to escape an alternate dimension he’s been trapped in for 13 years. The new DLC, The Lake House, will take place in a new location on the shores of Cauldron Lake in the Federal Bureau of Control’s research facility, the Lake House. The final DLC to the Alan Wake 2 game will also be a tie-in to Remedy’s previous game, Control. Alan Wake 2: The Lake House is set to release in October.

ArcheAge Chronicles

XL Games announced their latest installment to their ArcheAge series, ArcheAge Chronicles. In the event they released an announcement trailer. ArcheAge Chronicles is an online action RPG that focuses on action packed combat, exploration, and rich storytelling. The latest installment will take place 50 years after the original. In this game, players will have the chance to customize, master life skills, and explore new realms. As well as conquering challenges and unraveling mysteries from ancient times. ArcheAge is set to be released next year.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard

EA released an extensive trailer for their new game Dragon Age: The Veilguard. This single player RPG is sequel to Dragon Age: Inquisition. The trailer showcased gameplay of how the blighted gods have released a dragon on Thedas, and it’s up to the Rook, to use their skills and abilities to fight while controlling their companions in battle using the ability wheel. The Rook featured in the trailer was a Mage, so viewers got to see how the gameplay worked, as well as giving viewers a good look at Veilguard. The game is set to be released on October 3.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Koei Tecmo released an overview trailer and announcement for Dynasty Warriors: Origins. The game takes place inside the Three Kingdoms era of ancient China, where players will be put in the story as an unnamed hero with amnesia who will take part in the Three Kingdoms tale. The game will allow players to explore the Three Kingdoms and fight against Musuo Officers. Dynasty Warriors: Origins will give players a first-hand experience of ancient China from the point of view of the game’s original protagonist. In State of Play, Koei Tecmo, revealed the launch of the game for the PS5, which will be January 17, 2025.

Fantasian Neo Dimension

Fans of Japanese RPG games, Hironobu Sakaguchi, the father of Final Fantasy will have a new game released under Square Enix. Fantasian Neo Dimension is Sakaguchi’s latest work in the Fantasian series, that will bring a wider audience with the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The game will follow the protagonist named Leo who will go on a multi-dimensional adventure to look for his lost memories and unravel the secrets of the mechanical infection that threatens his world. In the announcement in State of Play, the game will be launching on December 5, 2024.

Fear The Spotlight

Fear The Spotlight is brand new horror game developed by Cozy Game Pals. This game is a third-person horror game where players will join Vivian and Amy where they explore Sunnyside High after dark, and they will have to unravel mysteries and solve puzzles in a tense environment. This horror game is inspired by the classic PlayStation experience and brings modern horror adventure elements into the game. The game is set to launch on October 22, 204, just in time for Halloween.

Hell Is Us

In State of Play, Rogue Factor brought the first gameplay trailer of their upcoming action-adventure game Hell is Us. The developers of the game wanted the players to explore the game and solve its mysteries by not utilizing any maps or guides. The game won’t give the players the answers on a silver spoon, but players will need to pay attention and connect the dots through their own discoveries. This game will focus on intense melee combat and the curiosity of exploration. The developers have said that the game’s environment isn’t there just to provide visuals but also to communicate to the player. Hell is Us is set to release next year.

Hitman World Of Assassination

For fans of the Hitman franchise, IO Interactive have released a trailer for Hitman World of Assassination. The entire Hitman: World of Assassination trilogy will be coming to the PlayStation VR 2. The trailer showcased 21 locations, the use of dual wielding and intuitive gestures. This edition of the game will also include active reloading, on body weapon holstering, and manual interactions to get disguises. Hitman World of Assassination is set to release this December.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered 

With the 25th Anniversary of Soul Reaver, the developers, Aspyr announced Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered to commemorate the celebration. For those unfamiliar, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was a game released in 1999, where players follow the story of the vampire Raziel, who was betrayed by his master, the vampire emperor Kain. After enduring pain and suffering leaving him disfigured, Raziel returns as vengeful blue wraith.  Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered will have updated graphics and better controls to fit the modern era. The game is set to be released on December 10 and is available for pre-order.

Lunar Remastered Collection

After 25 years the 90s JRPG game, Lunar, returns to PlayStation with Lunar Remastered Collection. This collection will come with Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete, but with updated graphics, sounds, and changes to the quality of life of the game. Lunar: Silver Star Story follows a boy named Alex, where he will go on quest with his friends, but with the rise of the Magic Emperor who wants to control the world, it’s up to Alex and his friends to save the world from evil. The second game Lunar 2: Eternal Blue takes place 100 0 years after the first game and follows the adventurer named Hiro who meets a mysterious visitor from Blue Star named Lucia. Hiro together with Lucia meet new allies and encounter dark forces who threaten the world. The Lunar Remastered Collection is set to be released in Spring 2025 for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Metro Awakening VR

Vertigo Games released a trailer and announced Metro Awakening. This game is first person adventure game that takes place in the Metro franchise. The game follows the origin of Khan, who was once known as Serdar, who is trying to explore the unknown to find and save his wife Yana. The game will utilize the PlayStation VR2 and DualSense to give players an immersive experience in the world of Metro. The trailer showed off bandits, mutants and other enemies, players might face. As well as showcased iconic Metro weaponry. This game will be available for the PlayStation VR2 on November 7.

Monster Hunter Wilds

Capcom announces the release of Monster Hunter Wilds alongside a trailer. Monster Hunter Wilds is the successor to Moster Hunter: Worlds and game will place players as a Hunter where they will have to track down and defeat monsters. To hunt for monsters, players will need to forge weapons and armor from the spoils of their hunt. In State of Play, the Monster Hunter Wilds trailer revealed their flagship monster, the White Wraith. Monster Hunter Wilds is set to release on February 28, 2025 for the PlayStation 5, and will also be available on PC and Xbox Series X.

Palworld

For fans of Palworld who wished the game would be available on the PlayStation, your wish has been granted. Pocketpair revealed in State of Play, alongside a trailer, that Palworld will be available on the PlayStation 5 at the day of the event, September 24. This game is an open world survival game where players can collect monsters called Pals. In the game, players can collect over 100 types of Pals and explore the massive open world and have an adventure. As mentioned, the game is now available on PlayStation 5.

Stellar Blade x NieR: Automata

Shift Up, the developers of Stellar Blade, announced that they will have a crossover with NieR: Automata. During State of Play they also revealed a trailer for the collaboration. Stellar Blade is an action-adventure game where the game follows Eve as she goes on a venture to protect humanity from a war against monstrous creatures from the future. Aside from the collaboration DLC, Shift Up announced that they will be adding a Photo Mode to Stellar Blade that will be available to all players. For fans of the soundtrack of the game, they have released the full original soundtrack on the day of the event and is available on 30 streaming platforms. The Stellar Blade x Nier: Automata DLC is set to release before the end of 2024.

The Midnight Walk

Moonhood announced their new game, The Midnight Walk. The game is a dark fantasy adventure game, that was produced by 3d scanning clay models, like some well-known stop motion animated films. The game will follow The Burnt One, a mysterious being who dug themselves out of a grave to find purpose in their life, which they do through the Potboy, a little lantern creature that players reignite and give life. Players will go explore Midnight Walk as they face ghoulish enemies, forge bonds with companions, and unfold its story. The Midnight Walk will be available in Spring 2025 for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge – Radical Reptiles

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge launched a new DLC, Radical Reptiles, on the day of State of Play. This game is a beat ‘em up game where players will choose one of the Ninja Turtles and use combos to defeat enemies from the Foot Clan. The Radical Reptiles DLC adds 2 new playable characters, Mondo Gecko and Mona Lisa. This DLC will be the final one for the game and will close out the chapter of the whole series. Sonic X Shadow Generations

SEGA announced that they are releasing a DLC for Sonic X Shadow Generations, the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack. This DLC will be a tie-in to the upcoming film, and a confidential Hollywood voice talent will be taking part in the Movie Pack. Sonic X Shadow Generations is an upcoming platform game where players follow Shadow the Hedgehog, who must go on a journey into his past and face some memories of the past and unlock a new dark power to protect the world. Sonic X Generations will be released on October 22and the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack DLC will be available on December 12, and both will be available on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Towers of Aghasba

Dreamlit announced and revealed gameplay of their new game, Towers of Aghasba. The game will follow the Shimu tribe who have returned to their homeland Aghasba, where they fled from 50 years ago when the withered invaded and destroyed everything in its path. The Shimu intend to reclaim their home and rebuild it. Players will follow a junior architect to help in rebuilding the civilization. The gameplay trailer revealed the ecosystem development, exploration, combat and city building. The game will be available on Early Access for the PlayStation 5 in November.

Fortnite

Epic Games announced that they will bring a split-screen mode to LEGO Fortnite. This new feature will allow friends and family to explore and build together. Players can explore Klombo, meet the Peely Tribe and visit the Lost Isles with LEGO Fortnite’s new content. They also revealed a limited edition DualSense controller that features Fishstick and Peely. The limited-edition controller releases on November 7 and the split-screen mode will be available on October.

PlayStation Announcements

PlayStation Plus

In State of Play, they made announcements for PlayStation Plus Monthly lineup. Games such as WWE 2k24, Doki Doki Literature Club, and Dead Space will be available on October 1. People who have a PlayStation Plus Premium will have access to Dino Crisis and Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain later this year. Lastly, The Last of Us Part I will be coming to PlayStation Plus on September 26. All these releases will be available for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Members.

PlayStation 5 Chroma Collection

Sony also announced the release of the PlayStation 5 Chroma Collection. These console covers are meant for the Slim model of the PlayStation 5 and will feature 3 colors: Chroma Pearl, Chroma Indigo, and Chroma Teal. They will also come with a wireless DualSense controller in three Chroma colors. The Chroma Dual Sense controller will cost $79.99, and the Chroma PlayStation 5 Covers will cost $64.99. Pre-orders will be open on October 3, and they will be released on November 7.

PlayStation 5 Pro

Early this month, Sony announced the PlayStation 5 Pro. In State of Play they showcased more games that will be coming on the new console. In the trailer, they featured Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, Horizon Forbidden West, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, Hogwarts Legacy, Alan Wake 2, Stellar Blade, Grand Turismo 7 and many more games to showcase the hardware and capability of the new console. The PlayStation 5 Pro will be available in stores and online on November 7.
