Dragon Age: The Veilguard has various endings that depend on your choices, bonds with Companions, and Faction Strength. These variables will determine which of the 5 distinct endings you’ll get. This guide will contain spoilers for the final stage of the game. Here are all the endings in Veilguard and how to get them.

Key Factors That Affect the Ending

Your actions determine the ending choice you get before reaching the game’s final stage. Here are all the factors you need to consider to get the endings.

  • Heroes of the Veilguard
  • The Heroes of the Veilguard is a status your Ally’s receive after completing all their Companion quests, which gives them new perks and a greater chance of surviving the final battle.
  • Faction Strength
    • Faction Strength is increased by completing side quests for a Faction. It will improve their performance in the final battle and affect the game’s ending.
  • Mythal’s Essense
    • To get one of the possible endings of the game, players need to obtain Mythal’s Essence. It can only be acquired by completing the “Regrets of the Dread Wolf” quest by fighting or convincing Mythal to get her essence.
  • Past Adventures
    • Past Adventures is a feature in the character creation stage where players can customize how the Inquisitor led the Inquisition during the previous installment, Dragon Age: Inquisition. It customizes the Inquisitor and determines their friendship or romance target, their goal, and the fate of the Inquisition. To get one of the possible endings, you need to set the Inquisitor to have a romantic relationship with Solas.

Ending 1: Trick Solas with the Fake Dagger

The first possible ending to the game is when Rook chooses to trick Solas with a fake dagger. Solas will take it and be hit with the effects of the Veil. Rook binds Solas to it successfully.

To get this ending from the prompt:

  • Your Companions achieved the Heroes of the Veilguard status.
  • Rook has High Faction Strength.

Here’s the choice that gets you the first ending:

Prompt

  • Solas: “Please, Rook. I do not wish to fight against you.”

Choice

  • “Let’s try this your way.”

Ending 2: Rook’s Companions Fight Solas

The second ending is Rook choosing to fight alongside their Companions. They will survive the fight and leave Solas bound to the Veil.

To get this ending from the prompts:

  • Your Companions achieved the Heroes of the Veilguard status.
  • Rook has High Faction Strength.

Here’s the choice that gets you the second ending:

Prompt

  • Solas: “Please, Rook. I do not wish to fight against you.”

Choice

  • “But I want to fight you.”

Ending 3: Everyone Sacrifices Themselves to Stop Solas

The third ending is the same prompt as the second one, but the key factors come into play. This ending causes Rook to lose all their Companions and be forced to fight Solas alone. The battle ends with Solas’ and Rook’s blood spilling on the Lyrium Dagger, which binds them to the Veil.

This ending plays out if:

  • Their companions haven’t become Heroes of the Veilguard.
  • Rook has weak Faction Strength.

Ending 4: Solas Binds Himself to the Veil

The fourth ending requires players to obtain Mythal’s Essence, which unlocks a third option in the final decision prompt. In the third option, the Inquisitor and Morrigan arrive to speak with Solas. Morrigan summons Mythal and releases Solas from her service. Then Solas willingly binds himself to the Veil.

Here’s the choice that gets you the fourth ending:

Prompt

  • Solas: “Please, Rook. I do not wish to fight against you.”

Choice

  • “You don’t have to do this.”

Ending 5: The Inquisitor Accompanies Solas to Enter the Veil

The fifth ending is a variation of the fourth, where Solas and the Inquisitor enter the Veil together, ultimately redeeming him.

To get this ending, you need:

  • Set the Inquisitor to have a romantic relationship with Solas in Past Adventures.
  • Rook convinces the Inquisitor to reunite with Solas.
  • Obtain Mythal’s Essence.

Here’s the choice that gets you the fourth ending:

Prompt

  • Solas: “Please, Rook. I do not wish to fight against you.”

Choice

  • “You don’t have to do this.”
