Zombies Chronicles 2 for Black Ops 6: Why It’s Unlikely to Happen Soon

By | November 21st, 2024 | Categories: Call of Duty

With Treyarch dropping teasers here and there, Black Ops 6 fans believe that the company just dropped one about the Zombies Chronicles 2 in a new Black Ops 6 store bundle. While the Zombie Chronicles 2 release date is highly anticipated by fans, it’s probably not going to happen anytime soon.

Zombies Chronicles was a DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 that offered eight completely remade Zombies maps from the previous games. The maps: Nacht der Untoten, Verrückt, Shi No Numa, Kino der Toten, Ascension, Shangri-La, Moon, and Origins, all featured new Black Ops 3 mechanics and upgraded visuals, but were otherwise faithful renditions of the beloved originals.

Zombies Chronicles remains a highly popular DLC, which is why Black Ops 3 still reports thousands of players each day on SteamCharts. Even with Zombies Chronicles 2 being a heavily requested feature from fans for years, Treyarch probably isn’t trying to tease its return.

Zombies Chronicles 2 Release Date: Reason Fans Believe it’s Coming

In the Mastercraft: Idead Tracer Pack bundle that was just dropped in the CoD Store, a new skin for Weaver seems to be hinting at an upcoming Zombies Chronicles 2 DLC. This is all due to the Zombies-themed skin showcasing several patches inspired by classic round-based maps on its left shoulder.

The featured maps being displayed on the Operator skin are as follows:

  • Der Eisendrache
  • Shangri-La
  • Shi No Numa
  • TranZit
  • Der Riese
  • Kino der Toten
  • Moon
  • Buried

It’s easy to identify that there are 8 maps, and that could easily lead to the assumption that a second Zombies Chronicles is coming. And that’s what got the fanbase buzzing with excitement about the imagined Zombies Chronicles 2 release date. However, four of those eight maps have been previously featured in the original Zombies Chronicles, making it unlikely that they would be re-used for the unconfirmed sequel.

And because players got another version of the Shi No Numa map in Call of Duty: Vanguard just a few years ago, that makes it even less likely that Treyarch would revisit the map yet again. What’s more, the upcoming map Citadelle des Morts seems to be heavily influenced by the Der Eisendrache map, which means Treyarch would think twice about including both in Black Ops 6’s limited roster.

Conclusion

With all that said, it’s been nine years since Black Ops 3 was launched, and given that these maps are among the most popular in the series, Treyarch may see them as a DLC seller.

Interestingly, it’s not just Zombies Chronicles 2 that fans believe is being teased. The entire Idead Tracer Pack bundle appears to be hinting at Black Ops 6’s next Zombies Perk. However, as things stand, Treyarch is more focused on making an impact with the coming Season 1 Reloaded, than anything else. So, players should get rid of the idea that Treyarch would soon announce the Zombies Chronicles 2 release date — at least, for now.
