Black Ops 6 Players Demand Headshot Buffs in Multiplayer
Black Ops 6 players have demanded that Treyarch increase the damage values of headshots in Multiplayer, as they feel that they’re just not being rewarded enough for taking accurate headshots in matches. Each Call of Duty subseries is known to have its hallmarks and nuances, despite being a part of the same franchise. Infinity Ward tends to use the path of realism, while games developed by Treyarch have an arcade quality which makes them appear unique to Call of Duty players.
As such, headshots that are taken in the Black Ops series, more often than not, don’t offer a realistic amount of bonus damage. And this tradition has continued in the series, with the latest Black Ops title, Black Ops 6, being no different. Damage profiles of many of the game’s weapons, especially SMGs and Assault Rifles, explain that landing a headshot only grants players around two to five points of extra damage compared to the chest or limbs. Although there’s an extra Multiplier for consecutive headshots, it’s not much of a difference from chest shots, only using one less bullet.

Why Players Feel Headshots Are Underpowered
This has gotten on players’ nerves, as the little difference keeps players like “nothing_in” on Reddit asking, “What’s the point” of hitting headshots? Many other fans took off with several replies, requesting a buff to the headshot multiplier.
“Why the actual f**k does shooting people in the head not deal significantly more damage? Practically every single FPS ever made has mechanics that encourage and reward headshots,” replied one angry Black Ops 6 player on Reddit.
Another player stated: “Treyarch loves having useless headshot mechanics for anything that’s not a sniper. Absolute garbage game design. Headshots should work exactly how they did in the older Modern Warfare games.”
The low bonus damage value for headshots is already frustrating enough for the players, but things don’t end there. Players also argue that it makes the camo grind more of a slog, as getting 100 headshots is the first step for each gun.
“I get that they wanted to make the TTK more ‘consistent’ in multiplayer but if you’re gonna make us go for headshots for camos then those headshots better be rewarding,” said another player.
What Could Change in Future Updates?
Treyarch has already taken note of this issue in the past and explained the reasoning behind reducing the effect of headshots in Black Ops 6. Their main reason is that they want a consistent TTK in each fight. Treyarch even tried addressing the issue in a Steam post after the beta, which led them to carry on with the inclusion of the consecutive headshot multiplier in Black Ops 6.
But this still isn’t enough to satisfy players as they feel they aren’t being rewarded enough for their accurate shots. Whether Treyarch will make another move to address this matter is still unknown. Players will just have to remain patient and await further adjustments in future updates.
