Fextralife Breaks Another NDA Clause Right After PoE 2 Takes Blame

By | December 1st, 2024 | Categories: Path of Exile

We’re just a few days from the Path of Exile 2 Early Access release, and content creator Fextralife has already managed to stir up drama. On November 30, Fextralife released a nearly 15-minute-long PoE 2 review video before the supposed release on December 6, enraging many fans. While GGG has taken the blame for a supposed “miscommunication,” Fextralife doubled down and released guides for the game.

Fextralife’s PoE 2 Review Copy

Fextralife received a review copy of the game as GGG considered them a traditional media outlet. However, any publications or videos reviewing the game were supposed to be released on or after December 6. Unfortunately, Fextralife jumped the gun and released a full video review of the game.

Fans are outraged, especially since GGG upholds a “discover with the community” mantra. There is an NDA with entities given early access review copies not to release their content until a specified time, so it was clear that Fextralife was in the wrong. However, GGG took the blame for the fiasco and announced that everything was an unfortunate case of “miscommunication.” Unfortunately, Fextralife fumbled once again right after being exonerated.

Fextralife Releases Guides on their Wiki

The gaming outlet fumbled right after the GGG announcement, releasing several guides for PoE 2 Deadfire. Aside from the content embargo, the PoE 2 post mentions that no guides or builds should be made based on the review copies given to outlets. Fextralife broke the NDA by prematurely posting a video, and then doubled down by posting guide builds. Fans and other content creators are understandably outraged with this development since builds deliberately spoil the game.

Who is Fextralife?

Fextralife is a content creator who owns Fextralife Wiki, which often posts builds and guides for various games. His site is notorious in several communities for repeatedly breaking NDAs and posting unoptimized and “default” builds, especially for Path of Exile. What further enrages fans is Fextralife’s reputation, leaving many wondering why GGG would send them a review copy knowing their history.

Are There Any Other Review Videos of PoE 2?

After the drama, Fextralife’s review video was removed from YouTube. However, several review posts were released a few hours later, and then immediately removed. No review videos are available now, and hopefully, this will remain the case until December 6.
