Marvel Rivals Role Queue: Will It Be Implemented?
Marvel Rivals takes inspiration from Overwatch in more ways than one, but one thing it’s missing is the addition of a role queue. With the game’s pervasive issue of teammates insta-locking the DPS role and the rise of the GOATs meta, many players are wondering if NetEase will ever implement a role queue. Here’s NetEase’s official response.

Role Queue Status
NetEase has stated that role queue would be considered too restrictive for players wanting to try out the game’s roster. To this end, they’re not planning to add a role queue function in the near future, especially with the game being just released weeks ago. However, a sizable portion of the Marvel Rivals community are calling for this change since the match experience can be ruined by all six players picking DPS and a 3 tank, 3 healer meta becoming too oppressive in ranked play.
Why Implement a Role Queue?
As mentioned earlier, Marvel Rivals has a pervasive meta where 3 players will pick Vanguard while the other 3 play Strategist. This hero comp creates a scenario where everyone can play aggressively and never die in the process since all 3 tanks are receiving healing from their supports. DPS players attempting to dive healers will be pushed back by the tanks. The GOATs meta is considered to have no counters except by following the exact same composition, which only drags matches to a slog.
While NetEase will not make this feature, many are asking for alternatives to a role queue so that group compositions are more diverse. Some ideas have been tossed around, such as a role limit to make matchmaking quicker. We may not know how NetEase will balance the game to be more fun, but for now, we know that role queue is out of the question.
