New LoL Tier 3 Boots Explanation
For the longest time, summoners only had access to Tier 1 and 2 boots. However, the latest update now introduces the Tier 3 variants with Noxus-themed variants. The only problem? Gaining access to these new boots requires players to fulfill special conditions. Here’s everything we know about the Tier 3 items.
Feats of Strength
Only one team can upgrade their boots to Tier 3, and the ones that get to do so are the ones that complete the Feats of Strength. Feats of Strength is a new mechanic revolving around securing objectives. There are objectives for these systems, which are:
- First Blood
- First Tower
- First Three Epic Jungle Monsters (Drakes, Herald, and 3 Void Grubs (6 Grubs count as 2)
Winning the Feats of Strength is the best of the three scenarios, so whoever fulfills two of any of the three conditions gets the buff. Winning FoS automatically upgrades Tier 2 boots to the following:
- Triumphant Berserker’s Greaves: +5% Attack Speed
- Triumphant Ionian Boots of Lucidity: +5 Haste
- Triumphant Sorcerer’s Shoes: +4 Magic Penetration
- Triumphant Plated Steelcaps: +5 Armor
- Triumphant Mercury’s Treads: +5 Magic Resistance
- Triumphant Boots of Swiftness: +5 Movement Speed
- Triumphant Synchronized Souls: +5 Movement Speed
Note: Cassiopeia can’t use boots, so she gets the following instead: Triumphant Serpentine Grace: 6 movement speed per level.
These aren’t the Tier 3 Boots but upgraded versions of the Tier 2. Players can only get Tier 3 versions after winning the Feats of Strength and owning at least two Legendary items.

Welcome to Noxus will also introduce Atakhan as a new Epic Monster that spawns on the 20-minute mark. Baron Nashor’s spawn will now move to 25 minutes. Atakhan provides a permanent buff after getting killed, and will only spawn once. Voidgrubs spawn are not affected. Here’s everything we know about Atakhan.
Two Forms: Ruinous and Voracious
Atakhan can spawn in either his Ruinous or Voracious form, which will determine what buffs the team will get. Ruinous spawns in high-action games while Voracious appears in less-action games. Here are the buffs you get for each:
- Ruinous: Increases the effect of all Epic Monster rewards or buffs. Blood Petals and Blood Roses also spawn on killing Atakhan.
- Voracious: Grants a one-time instant rebirth buff that respawns you in the Fountain
Note: Blood Roses are a new plant type that drops Blood Petals that grant EXP and stacking Adaptive Force buff.
