How to Unlock the Dark Citadel in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2
The Dark Citadel is one of the endgame areas of Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 as it offers a ton of loot drops and challenging enemies to fight. Looking to get yourself into this area? Locate The Architect
You’ll need to find and rescue the Architect NPC as he’s the key to entering the Dark Citadel. The Architect’s spawn points are randomized, but he’s likely to be in the Castle zone or in the Crypt zone. Once you find him, rescue him and bring him to your town to unlock the Dark Citadel.
Architect Services
After rescuing him and unlocking the Dark Citadel, he’ll offer you a few services to make runs in that zone easier, adding beneficial modifiers to your Dark Citadel runs, such as reduced enemy spawns, disabled traps, increased Pyre spawns, and fewer enemy elites on the map. You’ll need to spend some Gold and materials to alter your runs.
How The Dark Citadel Works
When you enter the dungeon, there’ll be 4 candles at the center of the room. Lighting a candle increases the difficulty of the enemy encounter once you step on the center button. While the enemy encounters become more difficult this way, the loot rewards are also increased.
Once you beat the Dark Citadel’s boss, Arista, you can then light 4 candles on future runs to skip this boss and continue progressing through the Barracks zone.
