City of Fior mes Iverno
Fior mes Iverno is one the biggest hubs in Avowed, and it’s where you’ll spend most of your time for transactions. It’s also the site of one of the biggest blunders the Envoy can experience after it burns to the ground. Fior’s destruction highlights the importance of choice in Avowed, whether big or small. Fortunately, you can save the city from its fate if you act quickly and promptly.
How to Save Fior mes Iverno
We want to clarify that no matter what you do, Fior mes Iverno will constantly be attacked, but the severity of the assault will depend on several actions. The difference is that only part of the city gets destroyed instead of burnt down. Here is what you need to do to prevent Fior mes Iverno’s destruction.
Clear out the Waterfall Cave East of Fior mes Iverno
The fate of Fior mes Iverno depends on whether you clear out the Waterfall Cave east of the city. This location is the camp of several Steel Garotte members, and killing them will heavily minimize the scale of their assault on the city. However, you must do this before the Ancient Soil MSQ, or you won’t be able to prevent Fior’s burning. Here’s how you can get to the cave:
- Receive instructions from Dorso after accepting the Steel Resolve quest and heading to the Rootbound Godless Ruins. (Optional)
- Head towards the Rootbound Godless Ruins and proceed Northeast upstream. You’ll eventually find a cave passage leading to the Steel Garotte Hideout.
- They can either attack you right away or tell you to leave. However, you must kill them all and clear out the camp.
After doing this, you can finish the Ancient Soil quest and find the city still standing, albeit badly damaged. Many died repelling the invasion, but Fior mes Iverno survived. You’ll retain access to many merchants and obtain an achievement for doing this.
Note: You’ll find several missives from Lodwyn in the camp, which states that the city would burn if you don’t clear the camp. In addition, you can decide on the punishment for the Lieutenant who would carry out the attack.
