How to Play Solo in Elden Ring Nightreign

By Karl Reyes | June 2nd, 2025 | Categories: Elden Ring
Playing solo does have its benefits despite Elden Ring Nightreign being a co-op-focused game. When going solo, you can still complete your objectives for character Remembrances and complete Expeditions without worrying about enemy scaling. While some encounters in the game are designed for multiplayer, it’s still doable solo. This guide will provide some tips and tricks on how you can play solo in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Entering Solo Mode
The game starts you out in multiplayer by default, but you can change this setting at the Roundtable Grace. Simply interact with the Grace, then head to the Matchmaking settings. Check the Expedition Type on the bottom and switch it from “Multiplayer” to “Solo”
Increased Rune Gains on Solo
A recent patch for Elden Ring has given solo players a 50-60% increased rune bonus for most enemies and bosses in the game. This will make leveling to become Day 3 viable easier since the bonus will help in reaching Level 10 and above without having to fight field bosses. Make sure to take advantage of this with the use of a Gold Pickled Fowl Foot and the gold shrubs found scattered on the map.
Solo Run Guide
- Wylder, Ironeye, Executor, and Raider are great solo-friendly options.
- If you complete a Remembrance objective and fail at Night 1, you’ll still complete the quest step when you return to the Roundtable Hold
- Prioritize the following locations for an optimal start to Day 1
- Churches for a flask charge
- Forts, Ruins, and Grand Cathedrals for early Runes and a blue weapon. If close by, take a Fort/Ruin/Cathedral that drops an element that the current Nightlord is weak to.
- If you have a Stonesword Key, immediately do an Evergaol for a massive Rune reward or a powerful passive
- Camps for the bulk of your Rune farming
- Mines for a guaranteed Smithing Stone +2
- Field bosses
- Once you reach Day 2, shift your priorities to the following map objectives:
- The center castle for Rune farming (especially worthwhile if Crucible Knights are present)
- Field bosses
- Evergaols
- 2 Churches for the remainder of your flask charges
- Always buy/choose a Wending Grace whenever available, as this will save you from death once per item. On Night 3, make sure to have 10,000 runes as the merchant near the final Nightlord arena will have a guaranteed Wending Grace for sale.
- Carry at least one bow weapon with you for certain Nightlords like Equilibrious Beast and Augur.
