Recently, the game now features a Switch 2 port, which has left many players skeptical about its performance. Fortnite Switch vs Switch 2 Performance Stats
The original Switch typically performed poorly, with its most consistent resolution being 880p at 30 FPS at its base settings. Meanwhile, the Switch 2 offers significantly improved image quality, featuring a 1224p resolution and a steady 60 FPS performance. Fortnite’s transition from Unreal Engine 4 to 5 made the Switch’s framerate even worse due to the increased graphical load on the console.
Loading times on the Switch were long, averaging around 10 seconds, and textures would not fully load while dropping. For the Switch 2, loading times have been improved, with an average reduction of 3 to 5 seconds, while also allowing all textures to be loaded.
Graphics on the Switch lacked shadows, ambient occlusion, anisotropic filtering, and other lighting geometry options. The Switch 2, on the other hand, offers all these features and consistently maintains good performance across the board. All player skins will also be loaded as they are now, compared to the Switch, with all players having default skins due to their skin effects causing system demand to increase.
