Apex Legends Season 23 Patch News
Apex Legends’ Season 23 has arrived, and with it, the return of a classic game mode. This season also brings changes to the support class and an all-new rework for one of Apex Legends’ core characters, Lifeline. Here, we’ll discuss in detail what’s new this season.
Table of Contents
Relics from the Rift
With the Rift in the sky destabilizing reality, many old and never-before-seen weapons are now appearing in the arena. Rift Relics are loot ticks found in a match that, when destroyed, drop Boost Kits and Relic weapons. Boost Kits provide an extra perk like Hover, Nessies, Void Reflex, Reactive Regen, and Squad Heal. Meanwhile, Relic weapons are the Launch Royale version of Apex Legends that have powerful effects. Finding these Rift Relics will turn the tide for those who claim its rewards.
Lifeline Rework
Before her rework, Lifeline used to let her healing drone revive teammates for her as a passive, while her Ultimate was a care package that dropped loot for the team. Since the game has recently put a lot of emphasis on movement abilities, Lifeline felt out of place compared to the new Legends.
Her new passive lets her keep the delegated revive mechanic but also allows her to use her healing drone as a parachute. This gives her more control in the air when jumping off ledges, giving her a tactical movement option like her contemporaries.
Back in the day, Lifeline’s drone was a stationary object, and teammates had to reach it to get free healing. Now, it’s been reworked to let Lifeline target a teammate, which causes the healing drone to follow the target. This allows for team members to stay in position as the drone will follow anyone that requires heals.
Lastly, her new Ultimate creates a circular barrier that blocks all projectiles while allowing all players inside the ring to use consumables faster. This turns her into a frontline fighter with far more sustainability in the fight, even preventing third-party fights from occurring.
Support Perks Incoming
To go along with Lifeline’s rework, all Support characters can now choose between two perks: Revive Expert and Healing Expert. Revive Expert lets support players revive teammates faster and provides a health regen effect on a successful revive, which can be applied to the support player if they’re downed.
On the other hand, Healing Expert removes the movement penalty when a healing item is being used while also doubling the amount of healing received.
Launch Royale
Launch Royale is the true day-one classic Apex Legends experience, which means that King’s Canyon is making a return. There will be no Ability Upgrades and EVO Armor in this game mode, but all the old un-nerfed weapons will return with a vengeance. Players of Apex since its launch will feel right at home with this limited-time event.
