What Is the Shadow Ban and Limited Matchmaking System?
For years, CoD has implemented the Ricochet system to detect cheaters and hackers in their games. However, with the release of BO6, it seems that players are being Shadow Banned now more than ever. Well, what’s a Shadow Ban? It’s when your account is blacklisted for 7 days until it gets reviewed by Activision to determine whether you’re guilty of cheating or hacking.
During the Shadow Ban period, you’ll have a hard time finding any games, and if you do, you’ll be put in matches alongside other Shadow Banned players. On some occasions, those you’re up against will be using cheats, which makes the game unplayable even during the Limited Matchmaking period.
How Do Players Become Shadow Banned?
Players can become Shadow Banned when multiple players report their accounts. Players become banned as soon as they are mass reported, without any review to determine whether what was reported was true or not.
How Has the Shadow Bans Become a Problem?
The Shadow Bans and being put in Limited Matchmaking have affected innocent players despite doing nothing wrong. Players who do well in their matches are mass-reported by players on the opposing team out of rage.
Because of this, the Ricochet system is losing much of its original purpose, and instead, is being abused by those who lost against players who are good at the game. The abuse of the system has left players on a sour note. The worst part is that once you’re banned, your account becomes flagged, and it’ll only take 1 or 2 reports before you’ll be back on the ban cycle. Because of this, players have chosen to play poorly to avoid being reported.
People who play BO6 shouldn’t get punished for performing well! The problem needs to be addressed to avoid any more unwarranted bans.
Is There a Solution to The Shadow Bans and Limited Matchmaking?
Activision has not discussed solutions or even addressed the problem regarding Shadow Bans and Limited Matchmaking. Players have taken to social media to share their experiences to spread awareness. Despite the amount of evidence shared regarding the problem, players are still being affected by the Shadow Bans. The CoD community is still waiting for the problem to be resolved, and hopefully, it will be soon, especially with the new season coming up.
I have been temporarily banned for 9 days and havent got a response if my account is getting unbanned?
Happened to me and I never have been shadow banned before until playing bo6 ranked play. Keep in mind my account is over 11 years old in the call of duty game series and to have this happen just shows how much of a joke this system is.
This happened to me and I’m not even good at the game, I don’t know why people would even report me lol. Think it’s some sort of system error on cod’s end.
This happened to me a few days ago…pretty sure it’s because I made a really good play against an entire squad in warzone. So, so frustrating.
this is insane.. i can not stand the idea of hacking and im playing ranked and get banned… how about you actually find a reason on why their hacking plus it should be obvious to tell if a person is hacking or not
