Monster Hunter Wilds contains an especially rare material that is also difficult to find. There are three sources of Sinister Cloth: buying it from a trader that rotates per day, waiting for a villager to get a lucky find, or searching for it in the Windward Plains. The game doesn’t tell you where you can find it, but this guide will show you the most consistent methods to get Sinister Cloth.

Windward Plains Sinister Cloth Farming Method
Since this region is the only place to find Sinister Cloth, you can start by going to your tent in any camp and resting. This will prompt you to select the type of season and what time you’ll wake. Select “Plenty” for the season and “Daytime” so you have more time to farm.
Once you’re in the open world, locate the Giant Windward Succulent and gather from there. This gathering node will be your main source of rare materials, especially the Sinister Cloth.
If you’re coming up with nothing, head back to the nearest camp, rest again, and change the season to “Fallow” on “Daytime.” Then, try your luck again on the Giant Windward Succulent and gather until you get it.
Nata Trade Exchange Method
Ideally, you should have spoken to all the traders in every village, such as Kunafa, the Wudwud Hideout, Azuz, Sild, and Suja. Once you have all of them unlocked, you can speak to Nata in any Base Camp to check what all the item traders can offer. Their stock rotates daily, so check on him every in-game day if you’re unsuccessful with the Windward Plains method.
Passive Village Gatherer Method
One villager in Kunafa, Murtabak, has a chance to obtain Sinister Cloth every once in a while whenever he returns from material gathering, but this chance is fairly slim. Like the material traders, you can speak to Nata and check on the items that Murtabak brings back.
