All FragPunk Game Modes Explained

By | March 6th, 2025 | Categories: Others

FragPunk has some game modes that cater to both casual players and hardcore rankers. Each game mode offers a unique twist to the standard shooter game modes, with Shard Cards providing both teams an advantage per round. We’ll explain all of FragPunk’s game modes and how they work.

Shard Clash

Shard Clash plays like the classic Bomb/Defusal game modes of other competitive games in the genre, where one team must plant a bomb in one of two sites while the other team prevents the bomb from going off.

A new twist to this game mode is the use of Shard Cards that can be used in every round. These cards provide the team using them with a special gameplay advantage to help them frag out more.

Some of these Shard Cards include effects like:

  • Making the enemy team’s heads larger
  • Preventing the bomb planter from dying while planting.
  • Revealing enemy positions after securing a kill.
  • Switching your health bar with a target’s health bar
  • Allowing downed teammates to be revived

These cards change the rules of every match and provide a special dynamic between both teams, making combat more fun.

Capture the Core

This game mode is similar to a standard Capture the Flag mode, as both teams have a core in each other’s bases. However, while players can attack the enemy team’s base to secure cores, these can also be found scattered throughout the map, meaning that the team must spread out and secure as many cores as they can.

Like Shard Clash, Shard Cards can be used by both teams to spice up the rules of the game.

The first team to capture 25 cores or have the highest core count after the timer expires will win the match.

Duel Mode

In this game mode, both teams of 5 players will face off in sequential 1v1 duels. Players in both teams can select which position they’ll take in the duel, such as who’ll fight first or last.

The player who wins the duel will stay in the arena and face off against the next opponent, but the damage they take will be permanent, giving the next opponent a slight edge. Shard Cards will not be a factor for this game mode, but Lancer abilities can still be used here.

The team that has the most surviving players will win the match. If both players in a round survive after the timer runs out, overtime will occur, giving the player with less health free regeneration while the player with more health will receive damage over time.

Team Deathmatch

Team Deathmatch is the classic game mode that you know and love, with no unique gimmicks or objectives to play. Here, players only have their gun and their Lancer abilities with no Shard Cards in use. The objective is simple: the first team to reach 100 kills first or have the most kills once the match ends will win.
