The ArhceAge Update 3.5: Erenor Eternal is out and about. Yes! We’re going to give you an appraisal of the game. Now, the question is: does the update live up to the hype? Let’s find out.

Some Mad Skills

Previously, we’ve told you about Ancestral Skills in our piece from May 31st: “ArcheAge Update 3.5: Erenor External,” but let’s go deeper. Ancestral Skills are not exactly skills but are more like increases to existing abilities. Players choose up to three skills that fill with elemental properties, which can change anytime. You won’t have to worry about regretting to put the elemental bonus on a better skill. Also, Ancestral Skills give players versatility when it comes to combat.

Eventful Wartime on 2 New Areas

Here are the two new zones more in-depth:

  1. Whalesong Harbor:

was once an important fishing hub, but now it’s a decaying boardwalk with well-preserved remains of whales. Gameplay-wise, the place features an event during wartime: Whalesong Siege. The event randomly assigns players to four factions scattered across the map, with each faction required to defend against a particular set of enemies.

  2. Aegis Island:

West of the harbor, a snow-covered region that provides end-game players a venue for level-grinding. It’s where the grand Tower of Ipnya is, and the Great Seal, which was used by the hero Inoch to contain the Akasch. If the two landmarks get destroyed, the Akasch will unleash upon the world once again. The island is the perfect backdrop for the Aegis Island Seal, an event where four factions are asked to defend a tower in the middle of the map from waves of enemies. The better players are at keeping enemies at bay, the greater the rewards. Since the event happens during war, don’t be surprised that some PVP action takes place while defending. The golden rule is trust no one.

Fresh Crafting Rules and Tiers

Speaking of new events, you’re going to need to participate in them to obtain the necessary materials for the new Erenor gear. It’s about time ArcheAge puts in place a new gear tier because it’s been a few years since the last one. Even though not adding new tiers has been a smart move since it’s been preventing power creep, doing so now is only right. There’s new and tougher content to wrestle. Plus, this particular tier is attainable and gives players a special wings visual effect if they manage to complete all seven pieces.

Aside from the sealed items being phased out and replaced by “cloaked” items and the lower crafting tiers being phased out, new rules have new crafting rules. Although it’s not difficult, the endeavor has a few issues that make it a bit of a hassle. One change the company made was to lessen the influence of RNG requested by the player base. Now, players can see the chances of success because the aspect of crafting has been made twice as easier compared to before.

ArcheAge Update 3.5: Erenor Eternal has managed to live up to the expectations it set. Since every update changes the game for better or worse, Update 3.5 gets two thumbs up.
