Assassin’s Creed Shadows Canon vs Immersive Mode: What’s the Difference?

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has two new modes when playing the game: Canon and Immersive Mode. These modes aim to improve the immersion of the game. Here’s a guide on the differences between the two to help you determine which to pick when playing the game.
Table of Contents
Canon Mode
Canon Mode lets you play the game without having to make any choices. It provides players with the definitive story as how the developers intended it. There are a few caveats to the Mode. One is that romance options are disabled. The NPCs may try to flirt with your character, but you won’t be able to flirt or engage back. The second caveat is that you can’t recruit Gennojo as an ally since the events surrounding the character are considered canon.
Canon mode is for you if you want to have an immersive experience of the game without having to make decisions that could affect its main plot points.
Immersive Mode
Immersive Mode lets you play the game with the characters speaking their native language. Naoe, Yasuke, and other Japanese characters speak Japanese, while others speak English or Portuguese. It gives the game a more realistic feel since it is set in feudal Japan. Of course, subtitles will be available for the dialogue. This Mode can be toggled on and off in the audio settings in the menu.
The two modes are new additions to the franchise, providing better immersion in the game and giving players an option to focus on the story if they prefer it that way.
