Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Should You Side with Yaya or Mitsumune (Heads Will Roll Quest)

In the Assassin’s Creed Shadows quest “Heads Will Roll,” you play as Naoe, who will need to make a difficult choice. Both choices will affect outcomes in a later quest. Here’s everything you need to know about both choices.

Should You Side with Yaya or Mitsumune?

At the end of the “Heads Will Roll” quest, you’ll have to pick between “Justice must be served” or “Killing them isn’t justice” on the soldier who’s about to be executed. Your choices in the quest will affect Yaya’s recruitment later in the game. There are three chances to recruit Yaya: one in the Heads Will Roll quest and two in “The Stray Dogs” quest. You need to get two out of three dialogue choices to be forgiveness-aligned to recruit her. It’s better to start early than to mess up the choices later in the game.

Choice #1: Justice must be served (Side with Mitsumune)

If you pick the “Justice must be served” choice, Yaya will be upset at you. In this scenario, you’ll choose to side with Mitsumune, and the soldier will be executed. It should be noted, however, that the violent end of the choice is the canon choice in the story. Luckily, you still have 2 more chances in “The Stray Dogs” quest to recruit Yaya by choosing the peaceful dialogue choices. Note: If you go with this route, you’ll need to make sure not to fumble either chance given in “The Stray Dogs” quest.

Choice #2: Killing them isn’t justice (Side with Yaya)

You gain Yaya’s approval if you pick the “Killing them isn’t justice” choice. The execution will still happen, but it’ll be easier to recruit Yaya in “The Stray Dogs” quest. You’ll need to pick just one peaceful dialogue choice in “The Stray Dogs” quest to recruit her.
