Choosing a Background in Avowed gets your character a head start in the early game, as not only does this open up dialogue options with certain characters, but it also provides a different starting weapon and bonus stats. - Best class: Wizard
- +2 Might

The Arcane Scholar is a good starting background for Wizard characters, as Might boosts your overall damage while Perception increases your weapon’s critical hit chance. Intellect gives you a good amount of Essence to start so you can cast more spells in the early game.
Vanguard Scout

The Vanguard Scout background pairs well with the Ranger class. Since this class tailors to ranged weapons like arquebuses, bows, and pistols, Perception will allow you to deal massive damage at long range. War Hero
