Best FragPunk Lancers Tierlist: Season 1 Meta

After some extensive testing during the Beta and now the full release of FragPunk, some Lancers have distinguished themselves as the best in the roster. In this guide, we’ll talk about all the Lancers in the game, rank them, and explain their place in the rankings.
Table of Contents
B-Tier
Chum
This Lancer has the most familiar playstyle, with his abilities being essentially smoke and frag grenades. While Chum’s abilities aren’t as flashy as the other Lancers, his ability kit is a fundamental part of controlling space, especially for players who have played Counter-Strike before.
He isn’t particularly good solo, so it’s best to pair him with a coordinated team. In a team, Chum is a great asset for many competitive players.
Nitro
Nitro’s niche lies in defense, as she has the most emplacement-based skills in the game. She can place down turrets and walls that are used for making cover, but can still be mantled over. For offense, Nitro has a drone that can shoot enemies, but its most useful function is for scouting out areas and gathering info.
She’s a good team anchor for the defensive side and has some good info-gathering capabilities, but by herself, she isn’t much of a player-maker.
Sonar
In terms of info gathering, Sonar is quite valuable, as her skills involve playing around the game’s footstep audio, which is a key part of learning enemy positions. Not only can she highlight moving enemies with her radar, but she can even hide her team’s footsteps, giving them an advantage.
Like the other B-tier Lancers, she’s extremely helpful in coordinated teams, but can’t make big plays by herself.
Jaguar
Like Nitro, Jaguar specializes in defending areas with his traps and smoke, particularly with tight chokepoints that enemies could push through. His means of zone control is more passive compared to Nitro’s turret, but this allows him to defend other areas.
Much of his strength relies on enemies taking hits from his traps, which makes him a bit more situational compared to the more versatile Lancers in the game.
A-Tier
Axon
His role in the game is to flush out defenders using a lot of explosives and making aggressive pushes into enemy positions. Aside from his guitar shotgun, he can throw a lot of grenades that can force anyone out of cover, along with an anti-blind skill to make safe pushes with a flashbang.
Overall, Axon is a great entry fragger who can secure kills as the first person to push towards an objective.
Serket
Serket doesn’t fall into a clearly defined role in the game as all three of her skills have different functions. She can teleport a short distance away, summon a tornado that slows enemies caught in the wind, and place a trap that pulls enemies toward her.
While Serket makes for an unexpected entry fragger, players using her should know the right times to use her abilities, as she can be caught out of position and be vulnerable to attack.
Spider
This Lancer is all about teleportation, covering the map easily, and making great escapes. His first skill allows him to place two teleporters that he and his team can freely use, giving him great map coverage. He can also teleport enemies away, giving him and his team some space.
Spider is a powerful flanker who can make some great objective plays, but his kit can be somewhat complex to new players.
Hollowpoint
Hollowpoint is a perfect choice for players who like to use snipers. Aside from her tactical smoke and trap, she can use a railgun that one-shots enemies while revealing their positions.
The railgun requires a bit of charging up, but players with good flick targeting can get a lot of value from her.
S-Tier
Pathojen
When healing is almost non-existent in a competitive tactical shooter, players tend to avoid making as many mistakes to stay alive. With Pathojen being the only healer in the game, she becomes indispensable in any scenario.
Pathojen also has the ability to create high walls, which is perfect for covering flanks or forcing enemies into a new position, making her the absolute best support Lancer in the game.
Corona
When it comes to clearing out rooms, Corona is unmatched. His kit is all about playing aggressively while forcing players to play on his terms, with his fire field not only dealing damage over time but also giving him damage reduction whenever he stands on it. He can also blind enemies in front of him, making him a perfect choice for pushing
Kismet
Kismet is the ideal flanker and scout, sneaking up on enemy positions and scanning them for her team. Her invisibility skill is by far her most useful asset, as she can use it to evade enemies or get a cheeky flank.
Her abilities are very simple and easy to use while offering a lot of versatility to make some great plays. While solo, she’s a great flanker, but in a team, she can set up them up with info on enemy locations.
Zephyr
Despite being labeled an assassin, Zephyr can hold her ground with her skillset while still having great mobility. Her standard invisibility skill is fairly balanced as it breaks whenever she fires her gun or when the duration ends. However, if she places her invisibility field, she can stay semi-permanently invisible within the field, making her a big threat to enemies pushing or defending a site.
Broker
Broker is one of the starter Lancers, yet he’s the most versatile character in the game. While his smoke is easy to use, one of his highlight skills is his rocket launcher, which deals considerable splash damage to grouped enemies, and one-shotting enemies on a direct hit. His cherry bombs are also very useful for both attack and defense sides, as this covers a large area.
He’s very easy to use and can make some fun plays solo, but in competitive environments, Broker can be a nice strategic choice in any team formation.
