What are the best weapons in the Battle Royale mode?

There are many different weapon classes in Black Ops 4 Battle Royale, so we’ll take a look through each class and provide our thoughts on what we think is the best weapon in that class.
Weapons
1. Assault Rifle (VAPR-XKG)
We will start with the assault rifles, perhaps the most commonly used weapon class. In Blackout, we’d suggest using the VAPR-XRG. This weapon is a great all-around rifle because it has a decent fire rate, but it can still be controlled easily at longer ranges. You certainly want to find a longer ranged scope.
2. Tactical Rifle (Auger DMR)
Tactical Rifles in Blackout blend the gap between Snipers and Assault Rifles. In Blackout, they are one of the most versatile weapon classes because you’ll often be fighting players at long ranges. Our favorite Tactical Rifle is the Auger DMR.
This weapon does a lot of damage and it’s also incredibly accurate. Unfortunately, the Auger DMR won’t always land in your hands, because it is quite rare. Our second suggestion would be the Swordfish, which is also very strong at long distances.
3. Sniper Rifle (Paladin HB50)
The best sniper rifle in Blackout is the Paladin HB50 – it does more damage than the other sniper, which means you’ll get kills in fewer shots.
4. Light Machine Gun (Zweihander)
Next, we have light machine guns. We’d suggest picking up the Zweihander if you have a chance. It’s a weapon that can only be obtained from zombies. This weapon has a very large ammo capacity and it can shred through players surprisingly quickly.
5. SMG (Spitfire)
SMGs in Blackout are scarily powerful – when you can close the gap between players quickly, an SMG can be the best choice – they have almost no recoil and insane damage per second. Our favorite SMG is the Spitfire because it has the fastest fire rate. Obviously, SMGs aren’t going to cut it at longer ranges, so you’ll want to pair it with a sniper, assault rifle, or tactical rifle.
6. Shotgun (SG12)
We wouldn’t suggest using shotguns too much because they are underpowered in comparison to many other weapon classes. With that being said, the best shotgun is the SG12 because it has automatic fire.
How do I find rare weapons?
- Find the blue light in the sky
- Visit the blue light and kill the zombies in the area
- Open the Mystery box for a rare weapon
Treyarch was very creative with their rare weapons in Black Ops 4 Battle Royale. Whilst other games like Fortnite and PUBG use airdrops, Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode used zombies and the mystery box.
To find rare weapons, you must first look for the blue light in the sky. Make your way to the blue light and you’ll find a graveyard. Be careful, because there will be many zombies there that can quite easily overwhelm you and kill you. You should also keep an eye out for other players – many players will fight to contest the graveyard area.
Once all of the zombies are dead and you’re sure there aren’t any players waiting to ambush you, you can move toward the center of the graveyard. You’ll find a wooden box – it’s the mystery box from the Zombies game mode.
When you interact with the box, you’ll be given a random rare weapon. You can get a number of different powerful weapons from the mystery box. The weapons available include the Zweihander, the Essex Model 07, the Cymbal Monkey, Acid Bombs, the Galil, and even the Ray Gun. You can also get other gear from the mystery box, including tier 3 armor.
How do I use armor to my advantage?
- There are three tiers of armor to find
- Each tier reduces bullet damage
- Tier three armor can also protect against headshot damage
Armor plays a very important role in Black Ops 4 Battle Royale. In fact, it’s such a core part of the gameplay experience right now that it has caused a lot of controversy within the community.
Regardless of that, it’s crucial that you learn to take advantage of armor in Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode and understand why it is so useful. In Blackout, armor will reduce damage taken per bullet. There are three tiers of armor and each armor will have increased damage reduction. The third tier can also reduce headshot damage.
- Tier 1 – 30% damage reduction
- Tier 2 – 40% damage reduction
- Tier 3 – 50% damage reduction (Plus explosive and headshot damage protection)
As you can see from the stats above, tier 3 armor is incredible. It is rare, however, but it will allow you to take two times more damage than somebody without armor.
For this reason, you should try to find tier 2 armor as quickly as possible. Try to avoid encounters with players until you find it. After that, you’ll be able to take more damage and then you’ll be able to have a better chance at winning fights.
Tier 3 armor can sometimes be found in Zombie mystery boxes or very occasionally in the world, but it’s not worth specifically searching for it due to its rarity.
Armor also has a health bar – once it reaches 0, it will break. The damage reduction does not change. So, even at 1HP, your level 2 armor will still have 40% damage reduction until it breaks.
A good strategy is to start searching for more armor as soon as your armor hits 30HP.
