Dragon’s Dogma 2, much like its predecessor, allows you to create a counterfeit version of a valuable item. The first game has a shop called The Black Cat that allows you to create fake versions of quest items that can be used to turn in quests that have multiple NPCs wanting the same item. Forgeries of an item can be valuable on its own since some of these items are required for a specific quest. This guide will highlight all the possible items you can make a forgery of and who you can hand them over to to reap the highest possible rewards.

Where to Create Forgeries

The shop can be found in the Checkpoint Rest Town, near the border between Vermund and Battahl. The shop is named Ibrahim’s Scrap Store. From the entrance of Checkpoint Rest Town, take the second alley to the left and turn right. You’ll find the scrap store to the right.

Ibrahim’s Scrap Shop Services

Besides being a place to forge items, it also serves as a normal shop and a place to retrieve important items. Any quest items that you have lost, dropped, or sold by accident will make their way back to Ibrahim’s Scrap Shop to be sold at their base price.

The Purpose of Forging

Some quests in Dragon’s Dogma require purchasing an expensive item or retrieving one from a specific place. Often, another NPC will also require these items for their own quest. Forging quest items allows you to turn in both quests for more gold and experience, but some NPCs can distinguish real items from fakes. This guide will list all the quests involving this mechanic and who you should give the fakes to. Be careful; you will fail their quest if you hand over the forged copies to the wrong NPC. For other items like Wakestones, Ferystones

What Items Can Be Forged?

The scrap store cannot create forgeries of consumables like Greenwarishes, food, or potions. It also cannot recreate weapons and armor, so there is no way to duplicate gear. It can, however, create copies of certain quest items and other valuable items. Remember that forged items are misspelled on purpose, so double check which quest item you’re turning over is the genuine article or the fake you made. These items are the ones available for forging:

  • Ferrystone > Ferristone
  • Seeker’s Token > Seeder’s Token
  • Golden Trove Beetle > Golden Stove Beetle
  • Portcrystal > Partcrystal
  • Wakestone Shard > Wokestone Shard
  • Wakestone > Wokestone
  • Eternal Wakestone > Eternal Wokestone
  • Dragon’s Gaze > Dragon’s Gauze
  • Unmaking Arrow > Unmasking Arrow
  • Nation’s Death Knell > Nation’s Death Knock
  • Howling Blizzard > Hurling Blizzard
  • Towering Earth > Lowering Earth
  • Let There Be Light > Let There Be Lite
  • Fulminous Shield > Fruminous Shield
  • On the Transference of Souls > On the Transit of Souls
  • Woodland Wordsmith’s Tome > Wooden Wordsmith’s Tome
  • Logistician’s Tome > Logician’s Tome
  • Chirurgeon’s Tome > Surgeon’s Tome
  • Hawker’s Tome > Gawker’s Tome
  • Forager’s Tome > Forayer’s Tome
  • Sealing Phial > Ceiling Phial

Be aware of the misspelled names of the counterfeit items, as it is easy to give the fakes to the proper quest NPC accidentally. Make sure to double-check the item you’re handing over.

Quest Guide for Turning in Forgeries

Hunt For the Jadeite Orb

Everard, the main quest NPC for “Hunt For The Jadeite Orb,” will ask you to find a Jadeite Orb. You can find the genuine item for sale at Ibrahim’s Scrap Shop. After purchasing the Jadeite Orb, immediately have the item forged. While waiting, speak of Offulve and he’ll offer to buy it from you. Return to the scrap shop and retrieve the fake copy. Give Everard the real Orb, then give Offulve the forgery to receive 15000 gold, the Ring of Skullduggery, and an Elite Camping set with no penalty whatsoever.

Spellbound and Sorcerors’s Appraisal

Trysha and Myrddin are NPCs that provide the “Spellbound” and “Sorcerors’s Appraisal” quests, respectively. Both of them require five rare magical tomes to turn in. These are Fulminous Shield, Howling Blizzard, Nation’s Death Knell, Towering Earth, and Let There Be Light. You can find the tomes in the following locations:

  • Fulminous Shield: Sold by Melve for 5000 gold
  • Towering Earth: Given by Waldhar, in Vernworth Dungeon
  • Howling Blizzard and Nation’s Death Knell: Found in the Waterfall Cave dungeon
  • Let There Be Light: Found in Myrddin’s room within his manor

Once you have duplicated the five tomes, give the fakes to Myrddin, and he will reward you with 11000 gold, the Ares Morpho robe, and the scroll needed to learn the Maelstrom spell. Then, return to Trysha and give her the genuine tomes. Wait a day, and you will find Trysha casting spells outside. Wait for her to exhaust herself then tackle her. You will soon receive the scrolls to learn the spells Meteoron and Celestial Paean.

Short Sighted Ambition

Isaac, an apothecary in Bakbattahl, will ask you for a ripened Quince. After giving him one, he will then ask for a rare tome called “On The Transference of Souls 2.” This tome is sold by Ibrahim for 2000 gold and can be forged for 2400, costing you 4400 in total. Be aware that the name of the copy is “On The TRANSIT of Souls 2,” and make sure you give Isaac the fake, as giving him the real book will blind him and cause him to kill his family by accident. Turning in the fake tome will net you 16000 gold and allow you to purchase the first “On The Transference of Souls” book.

The Caged Magistrate

To start this quest, first speak to Captain Brant. He will give you the Gaol Key and request that you free Magistrate Waldahr. Before you free him, make a forged copy of the key he gave you. Then, go to Vernworth Dungeon and open the Magistrate’s cell door. He will stay in his cell and request that you find a place with a mountain of tomes. You must do the “Heel of History” quest for that. Once you find the place he asked for, he will leave. The last and most crucial step is to return the Gaol Key to Captain Brant. You must give Brant the forged key, which lets you keep the original key as an unlimited “Get Out Of Jail Free” card.
