Dragon’s Dogma 2 Portcrystals: Where to Get Portable Ports
Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a large, expansive map, and running around the world can get tiring to go back and forth between capital cities. While you can use Ox Carts to travel between specific places, bandits and other elements can attack you, forcing you to defend yourself against these aggressors. Portcrystals offer players a safer method of fast travel, but there are only limited permanent ports in the game. Fortunately, you can install your beacons in any part of the world to revisit them anytime.

What are Portcrystals
Portcrystals are beacons that players can use to fast travel. Five permanent Portcrystals exist in the game, but some are locked behind specific quests. However, you can use portable variants to install fixable ports worldwide. You can have up to ten active temporary beacons in the game and move them whenever you want.
To use Portcrystals, you need consumable items called Ferrystones, allowing you to teleport towards the beacons. However, these things are expensive and cost around 10,000 gold. You can find Ferrystones from chests or by beating certain bosses and enemies. Despite the costs, using Portcrystals for traveling remains the most efficient and safest way to go around the world of Dragon’s Dogma.
How to Use Portcrystals
You must activate Portcrystals before you can access them for fast travel. It would help if you interacted with any permanent or temporary port to do this. Afterward, they should be available for fast travel purposes.
You will need Ferrystones every time you travel via ports quickly. While you can use these items anywhere in the world, you cannot use them indoors. Using Ferrystones inside structures will cause them to bounce around the walls and mark them consumed. If you don’t want to waste any of these valuable items, ensure you are in open areas when traveling fast.
Where to Get Portable Portcrystals
You can get Portcrystals through various methods. Some will be rewarded as quest rewards, while others can be acquired via exchanges. To make traveling around Dragon’s Dogma 2 much more accessible, you must max out the available ports in the game. You need to find enough materials to install ten of them, which you can spread throughout the map. Here are ways for you to accumulate Portable Portcrystals:
A Trial of Archery Side Quest
You can get a Portcrystal reward by completing this side quest in Farnsworth. You can start the mission by interacting with Glyndwr at Roderick’s Smithy.
Feast of Deception Main Quest
You can gain another portable Portcrystal from Captain Brant, along with Gold and XP, after finishing the Feast of Deception MSQ in Vernworth. You won’t have to do much during this mission since you must spend time with the captain in a particular inn. To start the quest, interact with Captain Brant after finishing the Unsettling Encounter quest.
Sphinx Riddle of Madness and Conviction
When you encounter the Sphinx in-game, you will be given a set of riddles to choose from. You can get one or two Portable Portcrystals, depending on your pick. To ensure you get the most out of this interaction, select the Riddle of Madness first, which will reward you with a chest containing a port after placing your central pawn in a Dais. Afterward, choose the Riddle of Conviction, which will allow you to duplicate an item in your inventory. Select the Portcrystal.
The Dragonforged Exchange
After progressing into the game, you meet the Dragonforged while doing the Flickering Shadows Quest. You can find this NPC after reaching the capital of Battahl, Bakbattahl. You can find him by exiting the city via the north at the Residential Ward, then continue forward until you reach the coast. There should be a bridge leading to a cave left of the nearby camp. Once inside, go left of the riftstone to find the Dragonforced.
The trader will give you Portable Portcrystals in exchange for Wyrmslife Crystals, which you can get from fighting drakes. You can also get upgrades from him to increase your power, so meeting him when possible is necessary for any player. Here is how much ports will cost from this NPC:
- Portable Portcrystals – 20 Wyrmslife Crystals
- Ferrystone – 3 Wyrmslife Crystals
Portcrystal DLC
Dragon’s Dogma 2 offers players the chance to buy one Portcrystal in exchange for real-world money. A game DLC gives you one additional piece, which costs around $2.50 in real life. If you don’t feel like traveling too much to grind for Portcrystals, you can quickly get one by purchasing it via Steam.
Where Should You Put These Portable Portcrystals?
Where you put these ports depends entirely on you, but there are three locations that you should consider when installing them. These areas will have farmable content or interesting POIs that you will frequently revisit, so having an installed Portcrystal there will help make your progression easier. Here are some of the best places to put a portable port:
- Bakbattahl
- Sacred Arbor
- Sphinx Shrines
- Agamen Volcanic Island
