Enshrouded Patch 7.0.4 Souls of the Frozen Frontier News
Enshrouded has seen a massive update drop with the new Souls of the Frozen Frontier, with a boatload of new changes and content for the game. This patch covers a lot of ground, so we’ll go through each notable update you can try out right now.
Table of Contents
New Region: Albaneve Summits
This region will be a mountainous biome with lots of new resources to look out for. Not only will it have more Shroud roots to destroy and level up with, but there will also be new quests tied to the summits for you to discover. This region will be best explored since players can use the glider to get places with the increased presence of wind drafts for more air time.
Base Townsfolk
Along with the new set of resources in the region, you can also recruit townsfolk for your base to help generate resources and make your home livelier than ever. Each town has some quests for you to embark on that will award unique rewards for completing them.
The current crafting NPCs will also now have a day and night cycle that creates more dynamic base behavior like wandering around the base, resting, idle chatter, and sleeping.
Crafting assistants can also be hired for your extra bases that can serve as the original crafter NPCs in your home. This feature should help you maintain your advanced crafting recipes even when away from your main home.
Animal Husbandry and Pets
Along with crop farming, this update will also add in new cattle animals and pets for you to domesticate and bring to your base to generate resources like fur, milk, and eggs. These animals can be found around the world and will require feeding to maintain their health in your base.
Each animal requires a specific feeding object and food type in your base to keep it fed and healthy. Emily Fray can provide the schematics.
Animals can also potentially create offspring in your base when put together in the same space, so make sure to create some pens for your animals. The offspring will require their own bed.
Increased Level Cap
With more Shroud roots to locate and destroy in the Albaneve Summits, character level caps have now been increased to 35. Players will now also have a new tier of crafting that requires Albaneve Summit exclusive resources to create even more powerful gear.
To add to the new heights of power, new enemies and bosses will challenge you in the mountains, so bring your best gear and some allies with you before facing them head-on.
New Dynamic Weather System
Players are now affected by the world itself with the dynamic weather system, with events like rain and snowstorms adding different status effects. Snowstorms, in particular, will require players to wear warmer clothing, find shelter, and create bonfires to avoid freezing to death in the mountains.
Graphical Updates
The game’s graphical fidelity will be upgraded to allow for better rendering. Players can now change the color tone of the game to make the palette more balanced and consistent. Global illumination will also be changed to work in tandem with the dynamic weather system, such as the sky darkening when storms approach.
Gameplay Updates
- Grappling hooks can now be used during combat, as using it on airborne enemies will pull them towards you in melee range while larger foes pull you towards them.
- Gliding will now be affected by air turbulence, which can drastically shift your direction when airborne. This feature can be toggled off if players prefer to fly without needing to manually control their flight path.
- Experience gains have been rebalanced to be spread out during the mid-game.
- Text scaling is now available as an option for the UI.
