Fallout 76: How to start the Enclave questline
The Enclave faction in Fallout 76 has access to some of the most top-tier plans and items in the game, which include mutation serums, the X-01 power armor plans, and even access to the many nuclear missile silos in the map. However, it is difficult to find the means to start the Enclave questline and progress through the ranks. In this guide, we will walk you through the steps to joining the Enclave and how to complete it fast to obtain the faction’s exclusive rewards.

Starting the Questline
You must first find a nuclear waste disposal cave at the easternmost portion of The Mire. The location is called Abandoned Waste Dump. Head inside and beware of the Deathclaws that inhabit the cave. Reach the back left corner of the cave to find an alcove with the corpse of an agent inside. Loot the corpse to begin the quest “Bunker Buster.”
To access the elevator into the Enclave bunker, you must search the Deathclaw nests in the cave for the Bypass Holotape to activate the elevator. Once you unlock the elevator, you can head into the bunker. The security system will not let you in further, so you must do these 3 steps: activate the circuit breaker in the laundry room, open up the air flue above the generator, and activate the circuit conduit, which is located above the vents. You can also hack the level 3 terminal to skip these steps.
Once you’re in the office area, a keypad will be on the wall. You will need to search the room for clues on the combination, but the correct keypad number is the document relating to the death of Judy Blackwell, which is in the terminal in the same room. After inputting the right code, you will hear a sound cue, meaning you can now interact with the painting and gain access to the main Enclave location.
Whitesprings Bunker
This bunker is the base of operations for the Enclave faction. You can find this bunker just south of Whitesprings Resort. Since you have completed the previous quest, you can go past the laser barriers and open the vault into the Enclave bunker. You will find MODUS, the AI managing the Enclave in Appalachia, there. This will start the quest, One of Us, which has MODUS task you with infiltrating a naval base at Sugar Grove in the Savage. This place is located in the Savage Divide region. You must load a holotape into the assigned terminal in Sugar Grove.
Then, MODUS will ask you to go to the National Radio Astronomy Research Center to uplink them into the satellite dish. A supply pod will drop from orbit, giving you access to orbital strike beacons. Return to Whitesprings Bunker, and you will officially join the Enclave faction and gain access to all their items and plans. However, MODUS will state that the military wing of the bunker is still locked, which is the location for the X-01 power armor schematics. To obtain the plans, you must complete two more quests.
Back to Basics and Officer on Deck
To unlock the military wing, you must head to Camp McClintock and “sign up” for the military. You must wear an Army uniform and helmet to progress with this quest. You will then go through a training course for agility, marksmanship, patriotism, and a live fire exercise to officially be enlisted in the US Army. Once you’re done, return to Whitespring Bunker and speak to MODUS to discuss how you can be promoted to General. This starts the Officer on Deck quest line.
For Officer on Deck, you will need 10 promotion commendations. You can get one commendation by killing Legendary enemies and Scorchbeasts or completing Enclave activities. The easiest way to obtain these is by going to the Cranberry Bog and hunting down Scorchbeasts. You can also do this quickly by joining public events, as Legendary enemies are guaranteed to spawn during these events, which can further expedite your quest progress.
After getting 10 commendations, you can now enter the military wing of the bunker and claim your free X-01 power armor plans. You can obtain these in the armory section of the bunker by finding a red terminal called “Archival Terminal” and selecting the Schematic Archive section and the “Prototype Power Armor schematics” to unlock X-01 armor plans automatically. Note that MODUS sells the mods for the X-01 power armor separately in the production wing of the bunker.
Best Enclave Vendor Items
Whitesprings Bunker is the only location in the game to sell the highly valuable mutation serums. You can find the vendor terminal for these items in the science wing of the bunker. Serums are consumables that grant powerful mutations like Marsupial, which increases your carry weight and jump height, and Speed Demon, which increases your movement and reload speed. The plans to craft these cost a whopping 20,000 caps for each mutation, but this is a worthy investment since serums only grant the positive effect without the debuffs, which you can sell for a steady amount of caps for your player vendor.
In the production wing, you can purchase mods for the X-01 power armor and plans for the Covert Scout armor set. If you need energy weapons, the armory wing will sell gatling lasers, Enclave-exclusive plasma weapons, gauss rifles, their respective ammo type, and fusion cores.
The medical wing has access to a large pool of rarer chems and healing items in the game if you need to stock up on supplies.
If you wish to launch a nuke, you can head to the surveillance system terminal and locate a nuclear keycard, which will initiate a repeatable quest that will mark the location of a cargobot on your map. There is no need to locate a silo code piece since there are community-run websites that will display the nuclear codes that refresh every week.
