Rockstar Games barely provides us with any news regarding the release of GTA VI, and the only thing we know is that it’ll come out around 2025. However, fans have theorized that the release would be on December 27, 2024, after a developer posted a picture of Rockstar goodies on X. Unfortunately, as December 27 has come and gone with no release info, that theory has been debunked.

GTA VI Fans Theorizing Over Notepad
The December 27 Release Date Theory went viral after dev Reckoppe posted a picture of Rockstar goodies he received during the holidays. However, fans spotted a notepad with several doodles just under the table. Eagle-eyed fans focused on the scribble “1227,” which some assumed to be the release date for GTA VI. Many believed that the number means 12/27, which led the theorists to think the game would go live on that date.

Unfortunately, the dev has since called out this theory, and the supposed “Holy Day” has passed with no update on the game. We’ve already entered 2025 with no new info, much less a release. The lack of news flowing to the content-starved community caused this wild guessing to spawn in the first place.

Wild GTA VI Theories Due to Lack of News
The far-fetched December 27 Theory is a sign that fans are desperate for any crumbs of info about the game. Rockstar has barely released any new updates about GTA VI, with the latest being an enhanced version of the first trailer. Fans are especially heartbroken, as shown in this Reddit thread. Some have complained that Rockstar could’ve posted any screenshots that would update us on the status of GTA VI, which was too much to ask.
With Rockstar’s lack of information, the vague 2025 launch is the only information we can hold on to. However, we still don’t have a precise release date, with some speculations saying it will be around autumn this year. Hopefully, Rockstar will pump out some new updates for content-starving fans.
