How to Complete Dragon’s Dogma 2 Readvent of Calamity Quest
Players should always take their time exploring Dragon’s Dogma 2 and completing quests that can heavily impact their progress. The Readvent of Calamity is one of the more critical side missions because it opens up the path to the Mystic Spearhand Vocation. If you’re looking to get into this specialization, you must complete the Readvent of Calamity as soon as possible. This guide will show you how to unlock and finish the mission. How to Unlock Readvent of Calamity Quest
It is possible to miss out on the Dragon attacking Melve, which will lock out the mission for you. If you have been trying to unlock the quest by frequently visiting Melve, then make sure you have done the following first:
- Ensure you have completed at least one of Captain Brand’s quests in Vernworth. Doing this increases the chances of a dragon attack occurring.
- Return to Melve (if the attack doesn’t occur, try doing other quests for now). However, be warned that if you progress beyond the Feast of Deception mission, then you will completely miss out on the event, which will lock you out of the quest and the Mystic Spearhand Vocation.
You may have to visit Melve multiple times to trigger the event eventually. Just be patient and ensure to stay within the questline. If you manage to witness the start of the Dragon attack, then you will be pulled into a cutscene. Afterward, you will be forced to fight off the behemoth.
How to Beat the Dragon in Readvent of Calamity
Players should remember that they don’t need to kill the Dragon. They must repel the attack and force the creature to retreat and leave Melve. Lowering its HP below half will force the Dragon to flee, so you don’t need to go all in.
The fight is relatively easy because you will receive help from the local villagers. However, it would help if you focused on the blisters covering your body to finish the battle fast. You’ll have an easier time doing this as a ranged class, but using a melee one is still doable. The Dragon has no notable mechanics, and its attacks are limited to fire breaths and body slams.
How to Unlock the Mystic Spearhand Vocation
After forcing the Dragon to retreat, the townsfolk who helped during the fight will thank you for your timely assistance. During this sequence, you can unlock the Mystic Spearhand Vocation by looking for Sigured, a hooded NPC with a long spear on his back. After inquiring about his name and fighting style, you will learn the Mystic Spearhand Vocation, an Arisen-exclusive specialization that uses magick and duospear.
How to Complete Readvent of Calamity Quest
Once the Dragon has been defeated, you must leave Melve and let a whole day pass. Afterward, return to town to progress the quest. One sign that you should return to Melve is when your pawn informs you to revisit the hamlet. Heres how you can finish the quest:
- Look for Ulrika, who is in her house atop the village. A cutscene will trigger when you enter the right-side corner room. Afterward, she will offer you a stay the night to thank you for assisting during Melve’s defense.
- After spending the night, you must leave the house to trigger another cutscene. The scene informs you that several individuals have been suspicious of Ulrika, prompting her to leave the village for her well-being. Lennart will ask you to check on her status.
- Once this sequence is done, you head towards Harve Village, where Ulrika exiled herself. She should be visible in any part of the village even if you have yet to progress through the Scaly Invaders quest, which will improve the town.
- After locating Ulrika, she will inform you about her decision to leave Melve and her current status. She will ask you to tell Lennart that she is safe.
- Upon returning to Melve, you head back to Melve and interact with Lennart inside Ulrika’s old house. The interaction will show a dialogue discussing the status and future of the exiled Ulrika.
Readvent of Calamity Rewards
After finishing the quest, Lennart will give several items. While you generally want the quest to unlock the vocation, one item reward can help you during your progression as a Mystic Spearhand. Here are the rewards for this quest:
- Ring of Gri
- 2000 XP
- 0 DCP
- 4500 gold
