Some Games Are Not Worth Retail Price

overpriced steam games
By | May 2nd, 2024 | Categories: Others

Many great games in the market are sold for massively low prices, while other classics are usually on sale, whether on consoles or PCs. Other games are quite expensive, costing upwards of $60 or higher for a relatively dull experience as, despite the price tag, the quality may not reflect it. If you’re looking to buy a game that is currently too pricey for you, consider waiting for a sale or finding a better alternative for that game. We’ll help you save up some cash with this list of some of the games that are just not worth the price of admission these days. At least, until these titles go on a crazy sale.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

  • Steam Price: $70

Call of Duty is known for its yearly releases, and the latest entry in the series is CoD: Modern Warfare 3. If you’re looking for a fun multiplayer shooter, look elsewhere, as the game is still rife with cheaters and has many stability issues, with multiple crashes occurring even with modern hardware. If you prefer the single-player experience, much of the campaign missions play mostly the same with a lackluster story and reused multiplayer maps from the previous Modern Warfare entries. The game costs $70 at base, while the Vault edition is priced at $100, which is too expensive for a subpar, mostly rehashed experience.

Battlefield 2042

  • Steam Price: $69.99

Despite being the latest entry in the much beloved Battlefield franchise, Battlefield 2042 still remains somewhat mixed, with many of its core features returning to the game still having a few peripheral bugs and issues. If you want a more refined Battlefield experience, there are better alternatives like Battlefield 4, 1, 5, and even the unrelated indie game BattleBit. 2042 does go on sale often, so if you wish to try the game out yourself, it is advisable that you wait for a 50% discount or higher before buying Battlefield 2042.

NBA 2K24

  • Steam Price: $100

Currently the weakest entry in the 2k series of NBA games, NBA 2K24 is rife with pay-to-win mechanics and other egregious microtransactions. Even with the game costing $100 at base, the game expects you to shell out more cash to buy a better roster for your team. If you want the core gameplay of 2K24, it would be better to play the older 2k games like 2K22 back when it had a much more playable and robust Career mode than 2K24. Even if 2K24 goes on sale, staying competitive in the multiplayer scene will still require you to spend more.

Diablo 4

  • Steam Price: $70

Like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Diablo 4 is priced at $70 for retail. As an ARPG, it competes against tougher competition with Path of Exile, Last Epoch, Grim Dawn, and even Diablo 2 Remastered, offering more compelling gameplay systems and itemization. Diablo 4’s asking price becomes tougher to recommend when you consider the fact that Path of Exile is free-to-play. The former’s microtransactions can also be pricey, costing as much as the aforementioned games above for some of the exclusive skins. It is best to skip this game and try out the other ARPGs unless Diablo 4 goes on sale for 75% off or higher.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League

  • Steam Price: $70

While the core gameplay of Suicide Squad is fun, much of the enjoyment stems from the leveling process. Once you reach the endgame, it becomes very repetitive. As a live service game, the main storyline is short, with only 11 hours of gameplay. While Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is getting constant updates with the inclusion of The Joker for its first season, the price of $70 is too costly for such a short experience in its current form. Should the game be on sale around 50% or more, then the game may be worth playing.
