Grand Theft Auto 6
Rockstar Games spaces out their game releases within years of development, but every time they launch a game, they are surefire hits among many gamers. Whether it was Grand Theft Auto 5 or Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar has always delivered quality games. GTA 6 is set to release around the third or fourth quarter of 2025, almost 7 years after RDR 2’s release, but we can expect it to be next year’s biggest game.
Ghost of Yōtei
Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima was a breakout hit, with its high production value, fun katana combat, and gripping story that left players wanting more. The game even came with the highly replayable Legends mode for free, making it a full-packaged game. Ghost of Yōtei will be set 300 years after the original game, which makes it a stand-alone title. If the sequel will be anything like Ghost of Tsushima, this may be an award-winning title.
Death Stranding 2
Hideo Kojima is no stranger to the PlayStation console series, with many of his signature Metal Gear Solid games being exclusive to Sony’s consoles. After the positive reception that the first Death Stranding earned, Kojima has got players wanting more with his next project, Death Stranding 2.
Doom: The Dark Ages
Id Software’s Doom: The Dark Ages is a prequel to Doom: Eternal and the 2016 reboot. The game continues the high-octane shooter action gameplay of its predecessors, with new weapons in the Doom Slayer’s arsenal like the chainsaw shield and skull-grinding auto shotgun shown in the trailer. Fans of the Doom franchise will be eating good next year.
Monster Hunter: Wilds
MH Wilds is looking to be a whole new Monster Hunter experience for both old and new fans, setting players in an open-world setting with a complete monster ecosystem and revamped weapon move sets. The game provides players with a Seikret mount to make exploration even more engaging, making players feel like a part of the world.
Marvel’s Wolverine
After releasing two Spider-Man games for the PS4, Insomniac has one more Marvel game up their sleeve with the announcement of a Wolverine game. While not much has been said about the gameplay, we can expect it to be a PS5 exclusive with a PC port arriving later after the initial release.
Sword of the Sea
From the creators behind titles such as Flow and Journey, Thatgamecompany is releasing a new indie game, Sword of the Sea. The game is an exploration puzzle where you travel around a vast desert ocean by riding a sword around like a skateboard. With the quality of their previous games, Sword of the Sea will be an absolute hit for indie games as a whole.
Marathon
Bungie’s new project after Destiny 2 is bold, taking on the extraction shooter genre with their own signature gunplay that so many of their previous games had. Marathon is one of Bungie’s older franchises exclusive to the Mac, but now the studio is pulling out all the stops to create a different experience, unlike their many other games.
