How to Beat Mimes in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Before hunting them down, you’ll need to understand how to beat the Mimes—knowing how they attack is crucial to perfecting your timing for each turn. They’ll start by protecting themselves and trying to fill their Break Bar. Here are the attacks they perform in the game:
- Hand-to-hand Combo: The Mime will lunge towards you, swing with the right hand, and then with the left. After the swings, the Mime will cock its neck and execute a headbutt.
- Strange Combo: The Mime will wield a massive invisible hammer to strike you down four times.
Now that you know the Mime’s move set, here are ways to beat them.
- Gustave’s Overcharge Gauge: Use Gustave’s Overcharge Gauge to deal damage and stun the Mime. You can quickly fill out the gauge by successfully dodging and parrying.
- Lune’s Earth-Stain Skills: Use Lune’s Earth-Stain Skills to lower the Mime’s Break Bar. It’s faster than Gustave’s Gauge. Using Lune’s Rockslide deals decent damage on the Mimes.
- Deal Heavy Damage While Stunned: Once the Mime is stunned from any attacks, go in on the boss with high-damage attacks. It’ll prevent you from receiving damage.

Main Mime Locations
Location #1: Lumiere
The Mime is located near the docks where Gommage takes place. Turn right from where you approach Maelle and the kids. You’ll see a stage with residents performing magic. Look to the right, and you’ll find the Mime standing in the corner.

Location #2: Spring Meadows
To locate the Mime, start with the Grand Meadow Expedition Flag. Head to the path on the left, and you’ll reach the cliff’s edge. Look up to find another cliff and grapple across. You’ll follow a path down to an arena where the Mime is.

Location #3: Flying Waters
Start at the end of the main path in Flying Waters. You’ll find a trail of corpses that will lead you to the shadow of a giant figure with long limbs. Once you see the shadow, turn right and look for a path between the kelp-looking plant. Follow the path, and you’ll find a platform where the Mime is.

Start from the Sanctuary Maze and follow the path until you reach an area with destroyed wooden structures. Look behind the structure, and you’ll find the Mime.

Location #6: Sirene
For Sirene, progress through the level until you are transported through a tunnel and reach an underground area. Head straight ahead until you reach the platforms. Grapple through the platforms and exit the archway. Head straight past the balcony, and you’ll find the Mime in the small room.

Location #7: The Monolith
Start from the Tainted Cliffs Expedition Flag. Head up the stairs and head across the cliff. Follow the path past the two forks. The path will split to the right, and keep going until you reach a fireplace statue. Head to the left and take the rope down to find the Mime, Clair, and an Obscur.

Location #1: The Continent
Located Northwest of the Old Lumiere. To reach it, you’ll need Esquie’s Swim ability. There are 2 Mimes in the area.

Location #2: Yellow Harvest
Start at the Harvester’s Hollow Expedition Flag and head down right to pass the slope. You’ll pick up the Expedition Journal from a corpse, and behind it, there will be a crawl space that you need to enter. It will lead to the mountain, where a small field is with the Mime.
Reward from Defeating the Mime: Braid Haircut (Maelle)
Location #3: Frozen Hearts
Start at the Iced Hearts Expedition Flag and head to the top part of the area. Run up the train carts, then grapple to reach the top—head west opposite the main objective. You’ll find a merchant and investigate the area where you’ll find the Mime behind a pillar.
