Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered places great value on birthsigns during character creation. These constellations provide huge boosts and boons to players, especially during their early stages in the game. Choosing the right birthsigns can pose great advantages to your build, so it’s a good idea to take your time in choosing the best one.

All Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Birthsigns

There are 13 birthsigns that players can choose from during character creation. Each has advantages, especially when paired with the right race and build. Here are all the constellations for your character.

The Thief

The Lord

Gain the ‘Blood of the North’ lesser power that regenerates up to 90 points of Health multiple times per day for 50 Magicka. However, you also gain the Trollkin curse, giving you a permanent 25% Weakness to Fire.

The Lover

Gain the ‘Lover’s Kiss’ power once a day to Paralyze opponents for 10 seconds for 120 points of Fatigue.

The Ritual

Gain the ‘Mara’s Gift’ power once a day to Restore Health by 200 points on Self, and you get the ‘Blessed Word’ lesser power, which lets you Turn Undead up to level 25 for 30 seconds on a target. It costs 40 Magicka to use, and can be activated multiple times per day.

The Serpent

Gain ‘Serpent Spell’ greater power to Damage Health on an opponent by three points for 20 seconds on Touch, cure Poison on Self, and Dispel 90 points of magic on Self, but you also Damage Fatigue 100 points on Self.

The Shadow

Gain the ‘Moonshadow’ power once a day to become Invisible for 60 seconds.

The Steed

Gain a bonus of 20 to your Speed Attribute.

The Tower

Allows you to open a door or container of Average lock level or less once a day, and you can also Reflect Damage by 5% for 120 seconds on Self once per day.

The Warrior

Gain a bonus of 10 points to your Strength and Endurance Attributes

Some birthsigns have drawbacks to compensate for their huge advantages, so you’ll need to consider all the effects before making your choice during the character creation.

All the Best ES IV Oblivion Remastered Birthsigns

The best birthsigns are those that give out flat boosts without any trade-offs or those with benefits that heavily outweigh their costs. Here are all the best constellations for ESIV:

  • The Atronach: This birthsign is one of the strongest defensive constellations, especially when you’re constantly facing off against spellcasters. The only drawback is that if you’re a caster fighting a non-spell user, birthsign gives you enough mana pool to cast multiple spells before running out of juice.
  • The Warrior: This birthsign gives you flat stats for most melee build or tanks. It’s great for those who like fighting up close and personal.
  • The Thief: This birthsign gives flat boosts for those who prefer dexterity builds. Bow users and stealth players would benefit significantly from this sign.
  • The Mage: This birthsign gives a flat 50 Magicka bonus, which is not that much, but the lack of drawbacks makes it the best pick among spellcasters.
  • The Lady: This birthsign is the best pick for those who prefer a tanker build due to its flat boost to defensive stats.

All the Worst ES IV Oblivion Remastered Birthsigns

Several birthsigns have minimal uses within the game. Many of these have debilitating costs of use, which makes them virtually useless. Here are all the worst ESIV birthsigns:

  • The Tower: The Tower’s only benefit is useless because it’s only useable once a day. Players can easily find lockpicks and open Average lock containers without much difficulty, so getting this birthsign doesn’t provide any worthwhile boosts.
  • The Serpent: The boost that the Serpent provides is not advantageous enough compared to its drawbacks. The fact that you gain a hindering debuff for a minor offensive boost makes it a less-than-ideal pick.
  • The Shadow: While being able to stay invisible for one minute is a great skill, The Shadow only lets you do this once a day. There is an item that lets players go invisible for 120 seconds, which is a far better option. The Shadow is a niche pick and can easily become obsolete within a few levels.
  • The Ritual: The Ritual is proper, but it’s effects are limited. The healing it provides is a weaker version of The Lord’s sign. Meanwhile, Turn Undead has minimal uses. The Ritual has few uses and is easily outclassed, making it one of the least advantageous birthsigns.
