Dune: Awakening lets you pick between the Trooper, Mentat, Bene Gesserit, Swordmaster, and Planetologist classes, each providing a unique combat experience when surviving on Arrakis. This list will discuss each class’s skills to help you be more informed about your character build and choices.

Trooper Skills and Passives
The Trooper is the archetypical soldier class, with many bonuses to ranged combat and some skills to displace enemies. With enough training, Troopers can even wield heavy ranged weapons such as flamethrowers and lasguns. The Trooper is a great starting class if you’re more comfortable with shooters.
Gunnery
- Ranged Damage: 5% per point
- Disruptor Damage: 5% per point
- Center of Mass: Deal 30% more bodyshot damage, but deal -15% damage for headshots
- Field Maintenance: Gear degrades 15% slower per point
- Scattergun Damage: 5% per point
- Underslung Agility: Your movement speed penalty while wielding heavy weapons is reduced by 20% per point
- Gunsmith: The max durability loss when repairing a weapon is reduced by 25%
- Heavy Weapon Damage: 5% per point
- Energy Capsule: You use an energy capsule that fills you with combat stimulants, granting you 50% more ranged damage and better weapon accuracy for 7 seconds.
Suspensor Training
- Anti-gravity Field: Deploy a secondary Holtzaman field that reduces the gravity of that area. It can lift enemies in the air or avoid taking fall damage.
- Suspensor Dash: Pressing the Dash button while suspended will perform a mid-air dash.
- Gravity Field: Deploy a Holtzman field that increases the gravity of an area, which slows enemies and any incoming projectiles within the field.
- Suspensor Efficiency: Suspensor power drain is reduced by 10% per point
- Collapse Grenade: Throw a grenade that pulls in nearby enemies and stuns them while inside the radius.
- Death from Above: You deal 25% more damage while suspended in the air.
- Suspensor Blast: Detonate your personal suspensor field, causing enemies to take damage, be pushed back, and slowed down. This ability can be charged up to deal more damage.
Tactical Tech
- Shigawire Claw: Launch a line of shigawire that pulls you toward a targeted location. If this hits an enemy, they will be staggered while in combat.
- Battle Hardened: All ability cooldowns are reduced by 25%
- Explosive Grenade: Lob a grenade that detonates with shrapnel in a radius. Shielded enemies take no damage from the shrapnel but will instead be staggered by the blast.
- Attractor Field: Attach a miniature Holtzman field to an enemy that magnetizes any projectiles you shoot towards them at the center of mass.
- Assault Seeker: Release a modified Hunter-Seeker that tracks nearby targets and explodes upon contact.
- Reflexive Reload: While you are Spice Precient, throwing a grenade or releasing a mine will instantly reload your current weapon.
Mentat Skills and Passives
The Mentat is a powerful casting class, with plenty of status effect skills like poison, stun, and stagger that give you complete control over the enemy in combat. This class has good ranged damage, and it has more damage options than the Trooper.
Mentat Calculus
- The Sentinel: You deploy a suspensor-buoyed dart projector that uses motion detection to cover a field of fire. Trigger a second time to activate.
- Ranged Damage: 5% per point
- Garment Keeper: Slows down the durability loss of garments by 15% per point
- Marksman: You deal 20% more headshot damage, but deal 15% less bodyshot damage.
- Pistol Damage: 5% per point
- Rifle Damage: 5% per point
- Exploit Weakness: Damaging an unshielded enemy with a ranged weapon highlights a weak spot on the limb you hit. Hitting that weakspot deals 50% more damage. Only one weakspot may be visible.
- Tailoring: Reduce the durability loss when repairing a garment by 15%
- Shield Overcharge: While you are Spice Prescient, shooting a shielded enemy with a ranged weapon causes them to overcharge, draining their shields faster.
Assassination
- Poison Capsule: Fire a hidden dart that creates a cloud of poison upon impact, slowly dealing damage over time to enemies caught in the cloud.
- Poison Mine: Place a remotely triggered mine that releases a toxic cloud to enemies within the blast zone.
- Headshot Damage: 10% per point
- Assassin’s Shot: Deal 25% more damage when shooting enemies in the back.
- Stunner: Fire a hidden dart tipped with a sedative, causing enemies hit to be immobilized for 6 seconds.
- Poison Tooth: When downed, you can bite down on a fake tooth to release a toxic cloud. However, this will also damage you.
- Hunter-Seeker: Release a remote-controlled Hunter-Seeker dart that can silently kill enemies. You are vulnerable while controlling the Hunter-Seeker.
Tactician
- Shield Wall: Deploy a chest-high Holtzman shield that serves as cover. Enemies passing through the wall will be slowed down.
- Solido Decoy: Place an illusory decoy of yourself. Activating the skill again causes the clone to move forward, drawing enemy fire away from you.
- Gravity Mine: Place a mine on the ground that, when triggered, slows down enemies and incoming projectiles in the field.
- Iron Will: You are immune to the effects of the Voice used by the Bene Gesserit for a stamina cost.
- Anti-gravity Mine: Deploy a mine that reduces the gravity of that area. It can lift enemies in the air or avoid taking fall damage.
- Source of Power: Release a miniature power generator that restores shields for you and nearby allies for 20 seconds.
Bene Gesserit
The Bene Gesserit is a melee-focused class that wields the power of the Voice, which forces enemies to bend to your will. Thanks to their mastery over their body, the Bene Gesserit can soak up the most damage compared to other classes.
Weirding Way
- Bindu Sprint: Override your nervous and muscular system to run significantly faster.
- Blade Damage: 5% per point
- Manipulate Instability: When you stagger, stun, or knock back an enemy, you deal 20% more damage to that enemy.
- Short Blade Damage: 5% per point
- Weirding Step: While using Bindu Sprint, you force one enemy to ignore.
- Prana-Bindu Strikes: Release a rapid barrage of powerful melee strikes, which stagger enemies.
- Bindu Dodge: While you are Spice Prescient, parrying an enemy makes incoming melee and ranged strikes pass through you.
The Voice
- Compel: Command an enemy to go to your position.
- Voice Training: Reduces your Voice ability cooldown by 25%
- Ignore: Force an enemy to ignore your presence as if you were invisible for 10 seconds.
- Stop: Command an enemy to stop their actions for 5 seconds.
- Rapid Register: Your Voice abilities will now register faster on a target.
- Screech: While you are Spice Prescient, your Voice abilities cause enemies around your target to be staggered.
Body Control
- Recovery: You regenerate health to 120% of your current HP threshold.
- Sun Tolerance: The rate of your Sunstroke buildup is slowed down from 100% to 80%.
- Trauma Recovery: Your health regeneration threshold is further increased to 130%, and you gain a 20% health regen rate.
- Vitality: Increase your maximum health by 55 points.
- Self-Healing: All healing you receive is 30% more effective.
- Poison Tolerance: Any poison damage you receive ramps up more slowly.
- Metabolize Poison: You remove poison from your body faster and cannot be poisoned further.
- Pran-Bindu Stability: You take 35% less poise damage, which reduces the times you are staggered.
- Litany Against Fear: You recite the Litany Against Fear, which empowers you and nearby allies with increased damage and stagger resistance.
Swordmaster
The Swordmaster is the most melee-oriented class in Dune: Awakening, given their mastery over the Ginaz School of Swordsmanship. In terms of melee combat, they are unrivaled in offense and defensive melee combat and can even survive ranged attacks.
The Blade
- Blade Damage: 5% per point
- Retaliate: Activate a state of awareness where you automatically parry and counter with a powerful strike that inflicts bleed if you are hit with a melee attack.
- Dance of Blades: Killing an enemy with a blade increases the power of your next strike by 50%
- Long Blade Damage: 5% per point
- Foil: Activate a state of awareness where, if you are hit with a melee attack, you automatically parry and counter with a powerful strike that reduces their damage output by 50%.
- Eye of the Storm: Become a whirlwind of blades that damage enemies around you.
- Precise Parry: While you are Spice Prescient, parrying an enemy attack reduces their damage mitigation by 25%.
The Will
- Deflection: You enter a defensive stance, automatically deflecting incoming projectiles. This drains your stamina as you maintain the stance.
- Bleed Tolerance: You are less likely to be inflicted with bleed damage.
- Reckless Lunge: Committing a sprint attack gives you a 30% damage mitigation bonus for a short while.
- Confidence: Doing a sprint attack or a slow blade attack gives you a 15% bonus damage mitigation.
- Solid Stance: You gain 35% more resistance to poise damage, reducing the rate at which you stagger.
- Thrive on Danger: When you’re at low health, you regenerate health faster, take less poise damage, and have reduced stamina costs for all skills.
The Way
- Knee Charge: Launch yourself towards an enemy with a knee, dealing damage and inflicting stagger on the target.
- Optimized Hydration: You gain 25% more stamina reserves when your hydration is full
- Field Medicine: Healkits now instantly recover 20% of your health on use.
- Crippling Strike: You strike at the target’s legs, reducing their overall mobility and increasing their dash stamina cost significantly.
- Disciplined Breathing: Stamina recovery rate is increased by 20%
- Inspiration: Empower yourself and all nearby allies with 35% increased melee damage.
- Desert Conditioning: The stamina loss you suffer when dehydrated is reduced by 30%
- General Conditioning: Increases max stamina
- Prescient Strike: The next strike after using any swordmaster ability will strike twice
Planetologist Skills and Passives
The Planetologist is a purely utility class, making the most efficient use of the land‘s resources through mining. Living off the land gives you bonuses to survive even longer and extract more resources in one go.
Scientist
- Cutteray Mining: Your cutteray mining yields are increased by 20%
- Rerouting: Power regeneration is increased by 10%
- Dew Gathering: Dew harvesting yield is increased by 20%
- Deep Analysis: Using Analysis Mode with your Cutteray grants you 20% more bonus yield
- Overcharge: Your power pack now gains 40 more maximum power.
- Compaction: Your compactor gains 20% more material yield
- Conservation of Energy: All tools consume 9% less power
Explorer
- Suspensor Pad: Deploy a device that launches you and anyone stepping on it into the air.
- Mountaineer: When climbing up surfaces, you consume 25% less stamina
- Cartographer: When you have a blank sinkchart, the world map will mark any sinkholes you come across
- Stillsuit Seals: With stillsuit alteration, you gain 115% more hydration capture while wearing a stillsuit.
- Scanner Mastery: The radius of hand scanners increases by 25%
- Spice Surveyor: While conducting surveys, you now recognize the density of spice beds.
Mechanic
- Vehicle Repair: All vehicle repairs cost 15% less, with maximum durability
- Vehicle Mining: Using heavy vehicles for mining grants 20% more resource yields
- Fuel Efficient Driver: Driving a vehicle costs 25% less fuel
- Vehicle Scanning: Vehicle-mounted scanner gains a 25% increased detection range.
- Sandcrawler Yield: Spice yields while driving a sandcrawler grant 20% more yield.
- Fuel Efficient Pilot: Ornithopters will consume 25% less fuel during flight
- Heat Management: While you are Spice Prescient, driving any vehicle causes it to build 20% less heat.
