Getting the Beyond The Veil achievement in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon requires a fair bit of secret hunting, but it is worthwhile for unlocking the true ending of the game. There may be spoilers ahead, so beware.

Complete All Secrets Before The Final Boss

It’s best to hold off on uncovering the secret until you’ve collected all the artifacts—ideally right before finishing the game. To unlock this alternate ending, you must visit three hidden areas and complete five tombs. Most of these locations provide crucial plot information, but the final hidden area contains a key item that enables the secret ending. However, this only works if you’ve also gathered the story details from all five tombs. The hidden areas in Horns of the South and Cuanacht can be explored in any order, but the one in Forlorn Swords remains locked until you’ve cleared the other two. Tombs can be completed as soon as you have the correct relics.

Location #1

You’ll need to obtain Excalibur first. Once you have the weapon, head to the Archspire and enter. There’ll be a couple of Wyrdspirits that’ll undergo some dialogue leading to the true ending.

Location #2

For this location, you’ll need the Shield of Palamedes. After obtaining the shield, go to Cuanacht and head northeast of the Elder Wyrm, up the mountain. After some climbing, there’ll be a door. Head inside and listen in on some dialogue.

Location #3

Head to the Forlorn Swords region and locate The Weaver’s Sanctum, behind the waterfall. There’ll be a boss fight within this dungeon, so prepare for a fight. You’ll get an item called the Life Spindle, which can be used in the final choice you have to make to obtain the game’s true ending.

Tomb 1

You’ll need to obtain Excalibur to unlock this tomb, which is found on the island where you first start the game. After you complete the quest inside and leave, an NPC will meet you, who’ll give you info as you progress, and the final info needed for the ending after you clear all the tombs.

Tomb 2

The Tomb of Sir Gawain can be found in Cuanacht, near a river west of the city, after you obtain the Shield of Palamedes.

Tomb 3

The Tomb of Sir Dagonet is located in Cuanacht. To unlock it, you’ll also need the Shield of Palamedes.

Tomb 4

You’ll need the Crown artifact to unlock this tomb. It’s located at the northeastern corner of Forlorn Swords.

Tomb 5

Like the other tomb in Forlorn Swords, get the Crown to unlock this location. It’s located northwest of the aforementioned tomb.
