Glory Kills are a staple in the Doom franchise. Since Doom (2016), they’ve been a way to kill an enemy with style. Doom: The Dark Ages continues the tradition and has added a new system to Glory Kills. To help you always perform the finishers, here’s a guide on Glory Kills and Glory Strikes.

What are Glory Kills and Glory Strikes?
Glory Kills and Glory Strikes are finishing moves triggered when an enemy is vulnerable. Glory Strikes are triggered when non-fodder enemies are vulnerable, and you can execute a finishing melee attack. The Strikes don’t guarantee a kill on an enemy. It’ll sometimes stagger them or disable their attacks.
Meanwhile, Glory Kills are rarer to execute since they can only be triggered on Demonic Essence Bosses and Mini-Bosses. Each Boss you encounter will have a unique Glory Kill. So, try performing one on every Boss you encounter.
How to Perform Glory Kills and Glory Strikes
Here’s how to perform a Glory Kill and a Glory Strike on enemies.
How to Perform Glory Strikes
For Glory Strikes, here’s what you need to do.
- Deal damage to your opponent until they’re vulnerable. A purple aura around the enemy will indicate their vulnerable state.
- Sprint towards them and press your Melee
- Doom Slayer will Kick or Shield Smash the enemy.
Performing a Glory Strike will either stagger and disable your enemy’s attacks or kill them.
How to Perform Glory Kills
Glory Kills are more complicated to perform on regular enemies but easier on bosses. Here’s what you need to do to guarantee a Glory Kill.
- Deal damage to your opponent until vulnerable.
- Sprint towards the enemy.
- Use your Block
- Follow up with a Jump, then press your Melee
Following the steps will guarantee you a Glory Kill. Glory Kills will tend to vary in their finishing animation. Some will have Doom Slayer cut the opponent in half or behead them with the shield. There is no guarantee of which finishing animation you’ll get if you perform the kill on non-fodder enemies. Glory Kills performed on Bosses, especially Unique Bosses, will trigger a cutscene.
If you want to kill the hordes of hell with style, you can practice your Glory Kills and Glory Strikes on lower levels until you perfect the execution.
