All WoW Classic Fresh Servers 2024: What’s New

By | November 18th, 2024 | Categories: World of Warcraft

WoW Classic is getting fresh servers so players can enjoy TBC again. Gamers have been begging Blizzard to release new vanilla realms, and devs finally acquiesced since Cataclysm players are moving into Pandaria. However, the fresh servers will make significant changes that will introduce better pacing for the community. Here’s everything you need to know.

What are the Changes for WoW Classic Fresh Servers

Spaced Out Updates

As part of the WoW Classic 20th Anniversary, the Fresh Servers offer players a chance to experience everything from scratch. One of the most significant changes in the new realms is how content will be spaced. Here is the schedule for each raid release:

  • Phase 1: Molten Core and Onyxia
  • Phase 2: World Bosses and Warsong Gulch & Alterac Valley Battlegrounds
  • Phase 3: Blackwing Lair Raid and Darkmoon Faire
  • Phase 4: Zul’Gurub Raid and Arathi Basin Battleground
  • Phase 5: Temple of Ahn’Qiraj Raid and Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj Raid
  • Phase 6: Scourge Invasion, Naxxramas Raid, and Silithus World PvP

At launch, players will primarily focus on the leveling experience, but they can reach level 60 if they intend to get a power level. Generally, players will have a relatively more casual leveling experience. Molten Core will be available three weeks after the launch.

PvP, PvE, and Hardcore Servers

Regarding servers, Blizzard announced that they’ll start the launch with one PvE, one PvP, and one Hardcore server. They’ll add more realms as needed to avoid the problem that occurred during the 2009 launch. Servers will be slowly released depending on how overloaded the available ones are.

Another cool feature is that Hardcore players can transfer to any PvP or PvE servers upon death. Instead of staying perma dead, they can migrate their deceased characters to one of the available realms. So, for players who regret entering Hardcore, all they need to do is jump off a cliff and die to migrate to another server. The transfers are also entirely free.

QoL Updates

While the Fresh Servers will adopt a #NoChange Policy, several QoL changes will be implemented in the coming weeks. Once the realms are online, the Guild and Group finder will be available by default. Fortunately, gamers can turn off this UI by enabling Classic Guild UI in the Interface.

Another huge QoL is the faction balancing adopted from Season of Discovery. The system will always maintain a balanced population between the Alliance and Horde. If too many Horde characters exist, newer players will be forced to create Alliance-only avatars until the population balances again. This system ensures fair PvP power scaling.

These are the significant changes coming to the fresh servers. However, players can still hope for some SoD features to be adapted eventually. These include the existence of dual specializations and talent templates.
