Simplified WoW The War Within Gearing Guide for Season 1
By | September 3rd, 2024 | Categories: World of Warcraft

With the Mythic+ raids starting to go live, gearing up and getting your Item Level to reach the following tiers is critical to join parties and meet their DPS checks. If you don’t meet the requirements of certain groups, you might have a hard time joining raid parties. Players can increase their gear score by crafting, looting, and raiding. Fortunately, you can upgrade your ILvl if you aren’t lucky with your drops.

New WoW The War Within Gear Track

The War Within features some changes to the gear track of players, which dictates the upgrade requirement and cap for each tier. Knowing which Gear Track you are on can help you understand what raids you can run and which ones you should focus on farming. Here are all the updated upgrade routes in WoW:

  • Explorer: 558 to 580 Item Level
  • Adventurer: 571 to 593 Item Level
  • Veteran: 584 to 606 Item Level
  • Champion: 597 to 619 Item Level
  • Hero: 610 to 626 Item Level
  • Myth: 623 to 639 Item Level

Each Gear Track limits how high you can upgrade each piece of equipment, so if you need to reach the next tier, you’ll need to forgo what you have in favor of higher-level drops.

Where to Farm Items for Each Gear Track

You can get various gear from different activities within the game. You can either participate in PvE content or farm materials to craft them. If you want to optimize your gear progression, you’ll need to know which sources you can get specific Gear Track, so you can become more efficient with your grind. Upgrading Gear to their Cap

Sometimes, it’s just more efficient to cap out your current gear set by upgrading them instead of wishing for good rolls from raid drops. You can use various crests at certain tiers to max out your items and farm them in certain dungeons. Here are all the crests available for TWW and where to use and farm them.

Weathered Crests

  • Farmed from LFR and Heroic Dungeons
  • Used for crafting and upgrading Veteran Gear Track items.

Craved Crests

  • Farmed from Normal and Mythic+0 to 3 Dungeons
  • Used for upgrading Champion Gear Track items.

Runed Crests

  • Farmed from Heroic and M+4 to M+8 Dungeons
  • Used for crafting and upgrading Hero Gear Track items.

Gilded Crests

  • Farmed from M9+ Dungeons (small drop rate from other lower Mythic+ raids)
  • Used for crafting and upgrading Myth Gear Track items.

Item Level 639 might be the maximum gear you can reach for Season 1 unless we get some new updates soon. However, achieving the Hero Gear Track would suffice for most content, and pushing into the Myth Track would be min-maxing and unnecessary.
