Dragon's Dogma 2 Post Game
By | April 4th, 2024 | Categories: Others

After finally beating The Dragon in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you are treated to a cutscene where you are hailed as the Sovran of Vermund and undergo a coronation ceremony. This is the normal ending of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and will start the next New Game Plus cycle. But what if you can change the ending of the game? We will discuss all the new things that come with the Post Game.

Preparing for the World Unchosen

Before starting the Post Game, you must prepare for this stage of the game as it brings out the hardest bosses into the overworld and makes them spawn more frequently. Ensure you are fully leveled and geared up before tackling this challenge. Set your Portcrystals in all the major and minor towns since you must teleport a lot in the post-game. Make sure that your reputation with Vermund, Bakbattahl, and the Sacred Arbor is high, as you will need them to trust you for the endgame.

Stock up on as many Wakestones and Ferrystones as you can, as passing the time in the World Unchosen is dangerous. This stage of the game is where using all your best items is recommended.

How to Start the Post Game

Once you reach the throne room after watching the ending cutscene, do not sit on the throne. Instead, talk to the Pathfinder sitting on a table before the throne. This will start a cutscene where the Pathfinder will bring you back to the moment you ride The Dragon to his arena. When you reach his glowing chest, you must use the Godsbane Blade on yourself while on The Dragon’s chest to initiate the post-game content.

World Unchosen’s State

The open world will drastically change in the post-game. The sky will glow red, and exclusive enemies like Skeletons and Liches will start spawning regardless of the in-game time. A new region will be available on the map, the former sea at the center of the map, as all the water has been drained out at this stage of the game. This world state also has a time limit of 7 days. Once the time limit has been reached, the world will be destroyed, and you must restart the first day again.

Four new bosses called Purgeners will be available to fight with their locations broadcasted by a shining beacon of light. You must defeat these bosses first before questing as they not only give a hefty amount of Wyrmslife Crystals but killing a Purgener will push the deadline of the world’s end back, buying you more time to do whatever you need to finish in the overworld.

Evacuation Quests

There will be five new quests that involve the evacuation of major cities. These are “Civil Unrest” (Bakbattahl), “The Regentkin’s Resolve” (Vernworth), “Wandering Roots” (Sacred Arbor), “The Importance of Aiding Ernesto” (Volcanic Island Camp), and “Shepherd of the Pawns” (Excavation Site). These quests are vital to reaching the True Ending of the game.

You must go around the city and resolve multiple disputes for the Civil Unrest quest. The first dispute is a duel, where you only must stand by and watch them fight until they grow tired. The second dispute is an argument between a food thief and a nobleman, which is solved by giving the nearby children food to resolve it. The third dispute is between two men in a verbal argument. Hit them until they surrender, and this will resolve the issue. Return to Manella and report to the Empress to begin Bakbattahl’s evacuation.

For the Regentkin’s Resolve, speak to Captain Brant, then head to the castle to speak with Sven. He’ll ask you to secure some oxcarts and convince his mother to join the evacuation. For the oxcarts, there is a minister who claims he has bought out all the oxcarts with gold. Attack him until he runs away. Speak to the oxcart owner to secure transportation. Then, Sven’s mother, Disa, simply carries her to Sven’s room so that he can convince Disa to join.

Bring a Pawn with Woodland Wordsmith for the Wandering Roots quest if you don’t already have one in your party. If you have completed The Ailing Arborheart and Out of the Forest, Into the Forge quests, this will make Wandering Roots much easier. Start by speaking to Glyndwr, and he’ll say you must speak to his father, Taliesin. He will not budge on the evacuation until you bring him an Arborheart Cutting. Teleport to the Seafloor Shrine and find the item. Once you have the cutting, return it to Taliesin, who will agree to start the evacuation.

For The Importance of Aiding Ernesto, he will ask that you convince Gautstafr and his wife, Cliodhna. You must escort them into the camp while carrying Gaustafr on your back. After returning them to the camp, speak to Lamont and convince him by asking him to escort the smith and his wife. Return to Ernesto to complete the quest.

Finally, for Shepherd of the Pawns, head to the Excavation Site and kill the stone golems attacking the place. Speak to Henrique to start the quest. He will ask you to retrieve the overseer’s godsway to break control over the Pawns. Henrique will give you the Overseer’s LodgeKey to unlock all the houses outside. Find the largest house nearby, retrieve the godsway inside, and return to Henrique to complete the quest.

General Tips

Do not be afraid to use up all your valuable items, especially any Unmaking Arrows you haven’t used yet. Ferrystones and Wakestone drops become more frequent in this stage of the game, so apply them generously.

Do not stop to rest at an in or make camp as you will spend a day resting, but with the World Unchosen, time is of the utmost essence as the game is on a time limit. You can only rest if you have cleared all 4 beacons on the map by killing the bosses associated with the beacons.

Since undead enemies will always spawn in the open world for the duration of this event, bring a Holy weapon with you always, as not only will Skeletons and Liches roam the land, but the Dullahan boss too will appear, so make sure you have a back up Holy weapon while traveling.

If you have time to spare, explore the Seafloor Shrine; there are tons of chests and other valuable loot to find in this area.

Post Game Rewards

If you have Wyrmslife Crystals, you can speak to an NPC named the Dragonforged to purchase the best gear in the game and Dragonforge your weapons, making them weigh less and adding more stats to the weapon.
