FFXIV new female Hrothgar customization available in latest benchmark test
Ever since the launch of the new Hrothgar race in their debut for Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers, players have always requested the inclusion of the female variant for Hrothgar. The Viera race also arrived in the same expansion but was initially gender locked to females until Endwalker, where the male Viera variant finally arrived for players to create. With Dawntrail slated to release on July 2, Square Enix has launched its benchmarking software for players to check if their hardware is enough to run the game. Part of the benchmark test is a new surprise option for players.

Female Hrothgar Character Creation
While Endwalker teased the new male Viera options in multiple trailers, its benchmarking software gave players access to all the available customization options like faces, hairstyles, skin color, and other miscellaneous options for character creation. Dawntrail is no different from its benchmark, which allows players to see the new female Hrothgar character and experiment with their default appearances. Players have already begun creating their custom Female Hrothgar Warrior of Light using the benchmark’s built-in character creation screen.
There are 5 default hairstyles, fur patterns, eyebrows, eye shapes, and 4 jaw types, faces, facial features, and tails. There are 10 voice options to select. Players can also select the clan their Hrothgar character hails from, either the Helions or the Lost, which changes the overall appearance of their character. Female Hrothgar also follow the same helmet rules as male Hrothgar and Viera, with only certain helmets visible on their heads due to their unique head shape.
Players must reacquire the unlockable hairstyles if creating an alternate character for the female Hrothgar. Still, if players use a Fantasia on their main character to change their race, all previously unlocked hairstyles will be retained for that character.
New Races After Dawntrail?
Yoshi-P has stated that once Dawntrail releases, the female Hrothgar race will be the last playable race to be released for the rest of the game. This is due to the extensive skeleton rigging, armor set, and helmet shaping needed for each new race since FFXIV usually releases new gear sets every month. It’s unlikely that the game will add in more races after female Hrothgar gets released, but this may change if the community support for another playable race is communicated to CBU3.
