Monster Hunter’s Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary This Year

20 years have passed since Capcom released its genre-defining game, Monster Hunter, for the PS2. This year, many good things are coming to the classic Monster Hunter franchise, and even more for Capcom’s other games. From a collaboration with Takara Tomy to announcing its next main installment, MH fans are eating good right now, as the franchise will see more content immediately.

Monster Hunter Wilds

Serving as the sixth main entry to the series, Monster Hunter Wilds feels like a fully realized version of the original PS2 games, taking all the lessons learned from World and Rise and applying them into Wilds. Slated to release for next-gen consoles, Capcom will be increasing the scope and scale of Monster Hunter with the trailer displaying The game is set to release in 2025, but we can expect to hear more about this game soon as 2024 will see many campaigns launched by Capcom.

Monster Hunter x Zoids Collaboration

Takara Tomy and Capcom have announced their new collaboration effort with Monster Hunter and Zoids as a celebration of Zoids’ 40th anniversary. In December 2023, the official Zoids Twitter account released a teaser of this event with their designs on display. Pre-orders are currently available today  The Rathalos and Magnamalo will be added to the Zoids product line with their distinct designs adapted to the cool mechanical look. With both franchises featuring beasts doing battle, it was a crossover that was just begging to happen.

MSI Limited Edition Rathalos Designs and Creator Model Alatreon

MSI has released limited edition Rathalos-themed laptops, graphics cards, CPU cases, fans, gamepads, and monitors for fans who want to represent the series. MSI has yet to announce the official release date or deadline for this limited edition lineup, so stay tuned for further news on this campaign. Capcom has also released an official figure of the fearsome Alatreon elder dragon, which is set to release on March 12, 2024.

Monster Hunter Now January Content

Niantic’s new game, Monster Hunter Now, has events ready this January. MH Now fans will be looking forward to the addition of the Azure Rathalos and a time-limited event that drops rewards with Monster Bone+. Dragonite Ore, Carpenterbugs and Zenny for weapon upgrades. There will also be a special week with an increased chance to hunt down the Banbaro and Radobaan.

2024 is looking to be a great year for the franchise as fans are considerably hyped for the new game, especially with the resurgence of World’s player population. Expect to hear more from Capcom as they continue to work on all their other projects for this year.
