Dragon’s Dogma 2 Secret Shop: How to Unlock Brokkr’s Smithy
Aside from vocations and character stats, weapons and armor significantly boost your characters’ power. You can get some of the best items as you approach the end-game content of Dragon’s Dogma 2, but this means you need to progress far into the campaign. However, a side quest will lead you to open a secret shop that will give you access to some of the most powerful sets available. We’ll show you how to unlock this vendor early to help you breeze through most enemies due to the significant upgrades to your equipment.

Brokkr’s Smith Secret Shop
Brokkr Shop can be found at the edge of the Bakbattahl, and many people might choose to ignore this spot since it doesn’t offer anything on the surface. However, you can access the secret vendor in this Smithy, Sara, if you can finish a specific side questline. The girl is Brokkr’s apprentice and will offer you wares once you finish her related missions.
Many people tend to miss out on this secret shop because the mission related to it starts in Vernworth. Unfortunately, you won’t unlock the quest line until you progress to a certain part of the story. This guide will show you how to complete the mission chain to open Sara’s shop in Brokkr’ Smith.
How to Unlock the Secret Shop
You can start the questline once you have finished the Seat of the Sovran mission, which you automatically unlock after entering Melve. You need to go to the courtyard in Vernworth Castle. From there, look for an NPC named Roman, who will reveal he is a thief and give you the Dulled Regalia Sword to start the Dulled Steel, Cold Forge mission. He will ask you to help him restore this weapon by bringing it to a knowledgeable blacksmith. Here is how you complete this quest:
- Bring the item to the Vernworth Blacksmith, who will direct you to Brokkr’s Smithy.
- Upon bringing the sword to Brokkr, he will express his interest but insist that he is retired and doesn’t want to involve himself.
After this, you will start the Steel Resolve, Blazing Forge quest by interacting with Sara. This NPC will eventually sell you the items from the secret shop. Here is what you need to finish this quest:
- After interacting with the smith, you talk to Sara, who hatches up a plan to lure her master out of retirement. She will ask you to bring 15 Glimmer Coal to her.
- You can find tons of this ore in Digger’s Ruins, which you can find southwest of Bakbattahl. The stones emit a green glow, so turning off your lamp will help you find them better.
- After returning to Sara and turning in the 15 Glimmer Coal, she will ask you to wait for one whole in-game day. You can find a bed or spam the bench to wait 24 hours.
- After returning to Sara, she will ask you to give her another day because she needs to learn a skill called Blaze Forging.
- Upon returning, Sara will be nowhere to be seen. Brokkr will want a word to inform you that his apprentice has gone missing and is probably headed towards the Volcanic Island.
- To get to this zone, travel south of Bakbattahl and enter Drabnir’s Grotto. After exiting the area, you head eastwards by following the road to the Mountain Base Cave.
- Enter the cavern and navigate through a long tunnel until you find Sara in the Blaze Forge. After a short dialogue, she will ask you to escort her outside as she needs to rush out before the hammer in her hand cools down. While you can return to the Brokkr’s Smithy right away, we encourage you to explore the surrounding areas because you can find many cool items like Cinderspine and Molten Fury.
- After returning to Bakbattahl, the Regalia Sword will be repaired, and the shop will be unlocked once you complete the quest.
You must wait one whole in-game day before accessing Sara’s shop. In the meantime, you can return the repaired Regalia Sword to Roman, who will reward you with 6,000 gold. You can get a 10% discount from Sara for all the wares if you have a great relationship with her. You can easily do this by gifting her flowers, her preferred presents.
Once you unlock the shop, you gain access to many strong items and Dwarven Enhancements. The latter significantly boosts the power of certain weapons, so you will benefit greatly from this. Stocking the shop as early as possible is a good idea since it will help you progress through the storyline more smoothly.

Players should note that all items can be bought nine times in total. You can only buy each piece every two days since they replenish one stock in one to two days. Some items will only be available in the shop upon completing certain quests, so we encourage you to visit the smithy every time you visit several missions.
