Who is Laxasia
Laxasia serves as one of the game’s primary antagonists. She is the primary figure responsible for the current state of Krat. There is no way to skip this fight because she is directly connected to the lore. In addition, she is the last boss you will face before you get to the final confrontation with Simon Manus.
Laxasia is described as one of the most challenging bosses in Lies of P. Her fight is seen as the game’s biggest “skill check,” so you must make the necessary preparations before you attempt to fight her. This guide will give you all the strategies to defeat the game’s main antagonist.
What are the Rewards for Defeating Laxasia
Aside from progressing through the story, defeating Laxasia will reward players with the Sad Zealot’s Ergo. This is a rare, powerful material you can use to upgrade your gear. While the loot might seem few, Ergo is one of the most critical resources in the game, so it is always worth the effort to gain higher-quality versions of these. On top of that, beating Laxasia also gives you The Complete One achievement, which you will need to get the Platinum Trophy.
How to Find Laxasia
You need to complete Arche Abbey before you can fight Laxasia. Once you’ve done that, you need to head towards the Prayer Room, where you will find the Stargazer. Activate this device and go to the room right next to the one you are in. Laxasia will wait for you, prompting a short scene before the fight.
Fighting Laxasia
Aside from understanding her attack patterns, it would help if you made other preparations for your gear. Here are some of the best items to use for the fight:
Weapon Choices:
- Bone-Cutting Saw: This weapon effectively deals damage and can stagger Laxasia.
- Greatsword: This weapon is also effective, but slower and more challenging to handle against Laxasia.
- Ranged weapons: Useful for attacking Laxasia from a distance but be cautious as she can close in quickly.
Strategic Gear:
- Armor with high resistance to electricity: Important due to Laxasia’s electric attacks.
- Amulet with the Blue Guardianship effect: Reduces damage from elemental attacks, including electricity.
- Amulet with the Dancing One’s effect: Increases movement speed, which helps in dodging Laxasia’s attacks.
- Perfection Grindstone: Upgrades weapons to their maximum level.
Laxasia has a particular weakness against Acid, so using the Acidic Crystal Spear is highly advisable. The Acid Grindstone can also apply the same effect to physical weapons. Bringing throwable items that deal with Acid Damage is another great idea to deal the most damage from afar. The DoT from these attacks will help ensure DPS uptime while you parry her.
Another item that you should consider bringing is the Aegis Arm. The fight against Laxasia will require you to do many parries, and the Aegis gives you a large window to execute them properly. Upgrading this arm before the fight will be incredibly beneficial for you.
General Strategies for Fighting Laxasia
Laxasia is a complex boss because she features electric-themed attacks that deal extra damage for every pulse. In addition, she has other gimmicks that players must figure out. Here are the things you need to remember for the fight:
- Beware of the Electric-Charged Attacks – Be wary of her electric attacks, especially those touching the ground. These skills will leave electrically charged pulses that detonate after a short delay. Make sure to stay out of their range to avoid getting damaged.
- Don’t Be Fooled by the Long Pauses – Before Laxasia makes her swing attacks, she will take long pauses to fool players into attacking her to unleash her move at point blank. Don’t take the bait; wait for her to finish her attacks before you move.
- Wait for Her to Return Her Default Stance – You will know when Laxasia is finished with her attack once she places her greatsword on her shoulder. This is her default stance, and it is the best time to attack her. However, you should still be careful because she can immediately unleash another move.
- Break the Shield Early On – Laxasia has a large shield protecting her from back attacks. While attacking might seem counterintuitive, it is in your best interest to keep bashing it from the beginning. Unlike some protective layers, the shield will eventually break, allowing you to damage her with back attacks. Breaking it early on will give you more opportunities for DPS later.
- Perfect Guards are Essential – Guarding against attacks is more beneficial than simply dodging because you can follow up with counters immediately. However, you must recognize her attack animations and when you should be away from her. For Phase 2, you will have to rely more on Perfect Parries because her attacks are faster, which leaves you little time to dodge.
- Break Her Weapon – You can reach Phase 2 quickly without depleting her HP by breaking her sword. However, you must execute 40 perfect guards to do this, so remember your guard windows.
Laxasia’s Attack Patterns
Laxasia mainly focuses on melee attacks and thrusts. Only in Phase 2 is when she’ll start incorporating ranged skills in her kit. You need to remember that she will do one last desperate attack before you can stagger her completely. This happens in both Phase 1 and Phase 2. Here are her attack patterns and how to counter them:
Phase 1
- Standard Melee Strikes – Various melee attacks, including slashes, thrusts, and sweeps; block or dodge them.
- 360 Charged Attack – A sweeping swing followed by an electrically charged strike. You can step back to evade the entire attack range or parry.
- Uppercut Swing Approach – Swift side-to-side sword swings while advancing. The best way to counter this is to move out because the flurry can be brutal to parry consecutively.
- Lunge – A straightforward melee thrust. Perfect Parrying is the best way to counter it because it has no electric charge. You can follow up an attack right away.
- Kick and Thrust – A close-range kick followed by a lunging sword thrust. You can create a bigger DPS window by side-stepping because they are both forward attacks.
- Electrically Charged Swing – A wide swing generating electric lines. Reposition behind her to safely counterattack if you have broken her shield beforehand.
- Electric Ground Slash – Laxasia drags her sword on the ground, electrifying the path. Avoid the electric approach she leaves while moving forward and attack her from the side.
- Sword Rush – Laxasia charges forward with a sword flick. You need to initiate the follow-up attack here to guard or dodge it.
- Leaping Strike – Laxasia leaps into the air and delivers a melee attack upon landing. Wait for her to descend and anticipate when to do a Guard.
Phase 2
- Electrical Surge – Laxasia charges up and discharges electricity. This is an unblockable attack, so you must run away from her as far as possible because the pulse only affects the surrounding area.
- Electrical Dash – Dashes with electrical shocks. To maintain DPS upkeep, you must follow her path while avoiding the trail she leaves behind.
- Aerial Electric Shot – Laxasia leaps and fires a ranged electric projectile. Be patient and block or dodge her attacks while keeping your eye on her. Unleash a flurry of attacks as soon as she lands. Be mindful of the electric pulse that occurs after she descends.
- Lightning Storm – Laxasia generates a storm of aimed lightning bolts. Perfect Guard will be your best weapon here. Parrying the projectiles will allow you to reflect them to Laxasia, which will cause her to take damage. Be ready to guard when you see Laxasia swipe her arm to release a missile. After the Lightning Storm, Laxasia will unleash a Fury attack directly toward you. You can Perfect Parry or dodge it. Her recovery time is extended, so you will have a vast DPS window.
Phase 2 can feel overwhelming due to how fast the attacks are and how quickly they are executed one after the other. Do not be greedy; prioritize dodging or blocking. Unless you are reasonably confident with your skills, only attack during the DPS windows after specific attacks like the Electrical Surge or Aerial Electric Shot.
Players should remember that Laxasia is the most demanding boss in Lies of P, so it is expected that you will have to make multiple attempts. Don’t be too frustrated when you fight her for hours. After all,she is exceptionally challenging, and her move set can be pretty complex. It will take time before you get used to her timing and DPS window.
