The Door Guardian is one of the bigger enemies that players will face near the end of Lies of P. While he may not be that much of challenge, it is still important for players learn how to defeat him.

Who is the Door Guardian and Why You Need to Fight Him 

The Door Guardian is a mini-boss guarding the entrance to the Arche Abbey. This colossal humanoid creature shares similarities with Champion Victor regarding size but presents a unique challenge. Fortunately, this fight won’t be as tricky as Victor, but you must still learn the basic patterns and strategies to ensure you stay focused fighting this minor elite. 

Progression of the Main Storyline 

The Door Guardian fight is a requirement to advance the game’s narrative. The Arche Abbey serves as the gateway to the final boss of the storyline. The Door Guardian blocks the path to the last chapter as players venture through the overrun city of Krat, battling corrupt puppets and contending with various grotesque foes. Players must confront and defeat this imposing adversary to proceed.

Valuable Rewards 

Defeating the Door Guardian yields substantial rewards that significantly aid players in their journey. These rewards include: 

• Key to the Arche Abbey: Grants access to the Arche Abbey, allowing players to explore a new area filled with unique challenges and opportunities. 
• High-Level Alchemist Badge: An essential item to ascend the tower within the Arche Abbey. This badge unlocks new possibilities and areas crucial to the player’s advancement. 
• Ergo: A valuable in-game resource. Ergo serves as the currency for acquiring new weapons, armor, and items, providing players with the means to enhance their capabilities and resilience. 

Where and How to FIght the Door Guardian 

The Door Guardian is situated at the entrance to the Arche Abbey, which serves as the final location in the game. To begin your journey to confront the Door Guardian, you must first make your way to the Arche Abbey. Here is how you can find this mini-boss:

• Navigate to the Black Seaside: The path to the Arche Abbey begins at the Black Seaside area. This area is fraught with dangers, including various enemies and obstacles you must overcome. Proceed carefully through the Black Seaside until you reach the Ascension Bridge. 
• Ascend the Ascension Bridge: The Ascension Bridge is a crucial point on your journey. Ascend it to move closer to your destination. Be prepared for potential confrontations with enemies along the way. Continue your route towards the Arche Abbey, then take the stairs located at the outer walls of the Abbey, which will lead you to the chamber where the Door Guardian awaits. 

Preparing for the Door Guardian

As you approach the Arche Abbey, you’ll encounter various enemies, including a giant Scorpion-like creature and smaller pests near the towers. Clear out these minor enemies before facing the Door Guardian. Eliminating them beforehand reduces distractions and minimizes damage during the encounter. There is a significant chance that these mobs will join the Guardian if you do not slay them before the fight.

Before engaging the Door Guardian, ensure your character is adequately prepared for the upcoming battle. Equip your most powerful weapons and armor, ensuring you have the most advantageous gear. Then, enhance your weapon with fire; this will give you a tactical advantage during the battle by inflicting additional damage and weakening the enemy. Attack Patterns of the Door Guardian

There are several notable patterns that players should be aware of when fighting the Door Guardian. While his attacks are heavily telegraphed, they can still be confusing to detect. Here are the boss’ patterns:

• Rolling Attack: The Floor Guardian rolls toward you. Move swiftly to the side or block if evading is not possible.
• Fury-Elbow Drop: When the Door Guardian glows red and slams on its side, it may follow up with a side and forward roll. Dodge the initial attack to the right and wait for the combo to complete before moving. This is one of the boss’ most powerful attacks, so react correctly. It takes a while for the Door Guardian to recover after this, which creates a good DPS window. 
• Left-Arm Slam: The Guardian raises its deformed arm before slamming to the ground, opening an attack.
• Right-Arm Swipe: The right arm winds up and sweeps across the battlefield in a large arc. Maintain distance and ensure it doesn’t lead to a slam from the left.
• 2-Arm Swing Combo: If the left arm swings, it will be followed by a right swing. When the 2nd swing begins, prepare to run in for a quick hit.
• Stomp: When the Door Guardian raises its leg, quickly move back to avoid getting stomped on.
• Somersault: When distant, the boss may pull its right arm back, leap at you, and slam down with the left. Dodge or run to the right to evade.
• Full Slam: If both arms are raised, they will slam down in front of the guardian, potentially knocking you down. Keep your distance or dodge to the side if timing allows.
• Fury Attack – This move is the boss’ most dangerous attack because it can catch you unaware.

Note: D dodging the attacks is more advisable than attempting perfect blocks. The Door Guardian is heavily telegraphed, so you can tell when to move out of harm’s way. In addition, some attacks cannot be parried, so that you might take unnecessary damage. 

General Strategy Against the Door Guardian

• Applying Fire: As you enter the arena, enhance your weapon by using fire. This added element will corrode the Door Guardian’s flesh, giving you an edge in the battle.
• Target the Leg: Concentrate your attacks on the Door Guardian’s exposed right leg, the vulnerable point that can be damaged. Avoid attacking the armored leg, as it will yield minimal results.
• Strafing and Baiting: Maintain a medium to far distance from the Door Guardian, strafing around him while baiting his attacks. Pay attention to attack animations with long pauses.
• Emphasize Staggering: Focus on staggering the Door Guardian, causing him to fall. Gradually build up charged RT/R2 attacks to stagger the Guardian. It is possible to faze the mini-boss in two or three attacks. 
• Deliver Fatal Attacks: Once staggered, the Door Guardian will fall forward. Move quickly and position yourself to the right of his head for a fatal attack. Repeat this process 2-3 times.

What to Do After Beating the Floor Guardian

After defeating the mini-boss, you can enter the Arche Abbey right away. There are tons of new enemies and items inside this area, so you might get some powerful new gear before you fight the last boss. Alternatively, you can go back to the safe zone and upgrade your sets before going into the high-level area.
