A Brief Overview on How to Price Check your Items in this POE Beginners Guide
With Path of Exile being one of the most popular Free To Play Action RPG Games out there, it’s very easy for new players and even long-term players to get overwhelmed and confused when it comes to things like how to price items on POE. That’s why I am here, to write informative and helpful guides like this to help you.
One of the hardest things to learn in Path of Exile is figuring out what your items are worth. It does become much easier after learning some of the basics.
During the first few weeks of a new league, the prices can be all over the place, especially towards the start of the league in the first or second week. Prices do tend to settle down after that.
There are websites out there to help you get an idea of what an item is worth, but they aren’t always accurate as, let’s face it, an item is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. By using my guide to help price your items in Path of Exile, you will have a much better chance of selling items at a fair price.
How to Price Items in POE
One of the best websites for understanding currency is PoE Ninja. However I mostly just use the Trade section of the official Path of Exile website myself.

The PoE Ninja website gives you the pricing history as well as Real-Time Value of each currency item in Path of Exile. This should help save people from selling their Exalted Orb on the in-game trade chat for less than it’s actually worth! Especially when you have a lot of copy/paste scalpers out there looking to rip noobs (new players) off!

They are one of the most important tools for buying, selling, and pricing your items.
One of the best tools to quickly look up the price of any item and get information on items is PoE Trade Macro. This program allows you to use shortcuts to look up the price of items while in-game. By Pressing ‘Ctrl + Q’ while hovering over an item it will open up poe.trade directly. ‘Ctrl + D’ will display the first few results on poe.trade.
For example if you hover over an item in-game and press ‘Ctrl + C’ to copy the item information, you can then go to the poeprices.info website and click on “Price Single Item”. You can then press ‘Ctrl + V’ to paste the item info here then click on “Submit” to see the guide price. There are other options here including “Price a Stash”, “Price All Stashes”, “Price a Shop” and so on. I myself only use the Single Item Price Checker usually.
I then usually Search the official Trade section on the PoE website by using the appropriate filters. If you are trying to price a Unique item then you can even type in the item name in to the box at the top where it says “Search Items”.
You can then use the other filters to search more specifically for the stats of the item you have. Sometimes just having an extra one or two percent on an item can really affect the value.
My main advice when using the filters though is to not search too precisely at first. For example, if you are trying to price a piece of armor and yours has 768 Armour then you may want to search for a Min Armour value of 700.
There is also the ‘+ Add Stat Filter’ option which is very useful for valuing items in the Trade section of the Path of Exile website.
Let’s say the armor you are trying to sell has 34% Fire Resistance, 27% Cold Resistance and 22% Lighting Resistance. You would want to filter by ‘PSEUDO’ probably so that it will search the total Fire, Cold, and Lightning Resistance. Then you will want to search a little bit lower to start with. So you might want to filter 30% Fire Resistance, 23% Cold Resistance and 18% Lightning Resistance.
Once you are happy with your filters simply search and see what other people are selling at. Check the stats of the items they are selling against yours and then price your item accordingly. You can then easily change your filter values to search again if they are too low.

This is the best way for me to get the price and value of items in Path of Exile 3.16 Scourge and even many leagues before this. Other people prefer to use the websites I’ve listed in this article. So my best advice here is to take a look at the many ways here that you can price your items in Path of Exile then choose the method or methods that work best for you.
Item values do change often so if an item is not selling then you might want to reconsider the price you have listed it at.
You can also ask in General Chat or the Trade Chat in-game whether or not someone can help you with the value of an item. Although from previous experience, this is usually very hit and miss.
